The sound of the soft pattering of rain had been lulling Carter to sleep for the last 10 minutes.
"Carter!!!"
Had he fallen asleep in geometry again? He looked up and saw his teacher above him. The look on his face gave it all away.
"You think falling asleep in my class is fun do you?"
"No, sir."
"Then why has this become habitual?"
"I don't know, sir."
"Detention Mr. Jacobs and don't think you can use track as an excuse either because it's raining." Crap. That hadn't been his plan at all. Then again when did anyone plan on falling asleep in class. Carter looked up at the clock, only twenty more minutes, he thought to himself as he struggled to stay awake through the rest of the boring lesson.

"Detention is over. You can leave now." Carter didn't need to be told twice. Within two seconds of the sentence falling from the supervisors lips he was gone. He pulled his skateboard out of his bag and pulled his hood on. If he hurried he could get home before his moms shift ended and he wouldn't get in trouble. He looked at his phone and saw no missed calls or texts. Some life I have, he thought to himself as he stuffed his phone deep into his pocket. He dropped his skateboard and started for home. About halfway down the schools parking lot he heard his name get called. He turned to see who it was and then BAM!!! He was on the rain splattered pavement, his board a few feet away, and a blob of black next to him.
"I'm sorry, are you okay?" He asked as he looked down at the blob. It moved around and looked up and everything in Carters world stopped. He stared into the most beautiful green eyes he had ever seen and they stared intensely back into his own blue ones. The "blob" was actually a girl, the most breathtaking girl he had ever seen. He just stared at her, dumbfounded. Finally he realized he was being creepy and got up to get his board. The girl looked down at the pavement, and her body began to shiver. Carter finally noticed that this girl was wearing a very thin shirt that had tears everywhere, and her pale skin underneath it was covered in goosebumps. He took his jacket off and draped it on the girls shoulders. She looked up at him, her huge green eyes holding a million emotions. She looked down at the jacket and tears began to fall from her eyes. Her black hair fell in front of her face as she looked down at the ground crying. Carter reached into his bag and pulled out his umbrella. He opened it and put it over her, as well as him. He bent down and moved her hair from her eyes.
"Are you alright?" He asked her, concern filling his eyes. She looked at him before nodding. She then took his jacket off and handed it to him. She stood up and ran off. As she ran Carter stood as well and watched her go. It wasn't until she was gone that he realized, he didn't even know her name.
