Adar watched Melanie sleep on her side. She was breathing almost harmoniously. The glow, from the flame, lit her slim face. Her hair was a mess. It had been caught a few times in the branches of trees as she try to duck underneath and avoid them.

Adar knees were up to his chest, he was leaning on a log, looking up at the stars. His father had taught him how to identify and use constellations. He and his father had spent many a time outdoors. Hunting was the main activity they spent doing together. Cane was superb at hunting, a prodigy to say the least.

He never really competed with Cane. He would most certainly have lost more than he would want to.

He lowered his head down from the sky and looked into the little flame he had started. Thoughts came flooding in.

You never try and that's why your weak!

I will always Love you no matter what...

always be prepared...  Bloody fool...

I will be here...

Adar covered his ears. The remarks that came from the past almost seemed to much to bear.

A flame seemed to grow in him every time he remembered. He was always close to remembering the thing that was there, but not available to him. It was a Locked away memory.

*************

Cane had finished with the bounty and was headed on his way to the location where Langstrom was allegedly seen.

4 wagons, filled with supplies, followed behind Cane. Norman and Seth were on either side of him. Behind them were a small group of militia men. Randolph and the group were appointed by the town council to accompany the bounty hunters on the hunt for Langstrom. Langstrom was a notorious man, known for his deeds against England and a few of the colonies.

"Most of these boys look like Seth." said Norman to Cane.

Cane gave a chuckle.

"I am more experienced than of all of them combined." retorted Seth.

Cane shook his head. "Children of mine may you please calm yourselves and direct the anger and hate to the enemy at hand. "

Norman grinned," I'm glad they decided to cut the bounty 65% us and 35% them. "

"Yes," replied Cane."  They were grateful that we dealt with that rouge thief. We should be at Langstrom's base, if there is one, in 2 or more days. "

Seth looked up at the sky. It had a pink color with a bit of purple swirled into it.

"My father used to tell me that if the sky was pink like that, it meant innocent lives were shed."

Norman looked up as well."Seth, if it is true, then Lansgtrom surely slayed them."

Cane smiled. " My father used to tell me something similar. He said if it was a mournful death then the sky would darken and that rain would come down matching  people's tears."

Norman looked at both of them. " My father told me when someone died we had to bury them. "

Cane shook his head. "Irrelevant that would seem to this conversation, but it's not ."

Seth only grinned.

Randolph was driving one of the carts. His son drove the other. A few of the boys rode along side the carts, only to try to steal a few of the apples onboard.

Randolph's sole mission was to drive the cart and protect  the new comers. But he would compromise it to salvage the food.

Seth looked forward,  a group of bandits were heading towards them. At least three that they could see.
