Zoey's POV

I've always thought that there was something magical about the spring. The way the leaves grew back after the autumn and the winter, how everything was fresh and clean and bright and new.

I always knew I'd want my wedding day to be in spring, on a lovely afternoon with the sun shining and a cool breeze in the air. Steve's promised that I'd get my spring wedding. Just over a month I've got left to wait. The end of May, in the park where Steve asked me to marry him last year.

I planned the day three weeks after he proposed. It took me four months to organise, and then it was over. Now, it's no different than usual. Keeping the world safe takes priority over my nuptials,

"Honey?" Steve calls. I hear him, but do not respond just yet. "Zo?"

"One second!" I shout, using my powers to destroy some robots hurtling towards me. The training room is large and crowded with metal forms lying below me.

They all fall to the ground. Panting, I lower myself to the ground and turn to Steve standing in the doorway.

"Yes?" I ask expectantly, taking a sip of water.

"Nat's back." I smile at his words, a feeling of elation making we weightless.

"Really?" I ask excitedly.

"Yeah, we're all having dinner in an hour."

I walk over to him, putting a hand on his cheek.

"Well then, dear fiancé." He grins at my words. "We both might need a shower for that."

He chuckles, taking my hand in his. We walk together out of the training room, the automatic door closing behind us.

We get in the elevator and go up to our room. I turn to Steve, looking up at him.

"I love you." I say with a smile. "I love you very much."

"And I love you, Zoey Redbird." Steve picks me up as the elevator opens, walking us back to our suite as I wrap my legs around him.

"I can't wait to call you Zoey Rogers soon." He murmurs against the skin of my neck, making me smile.

"Neither can I." I sigh in content.

"Nat!" I run out of the elevator as soon as I see her, enveloping my best friend, my sister in a hug. Steve follows behind me, kissing Natasha's cheek.

"It's good to see you." Nat grins as we pull away. "Been keeping reins on the boys while I've been gone?"

"I never let them go." I joke, beaming. "How was the mission?"

"It was successful." She nods. "I've confirmed the location of another HYDRA base. We can move in as soon as we're ready."

"That's tomorrow's job." Tony enters the room with Clint and Bruce. "Tonight we're having dinner."

"Thank God." I mumble under my breath. "Absolutely starving."

Steve chuckles and takes my hand, leading us over to the large dinner table. He pulls out a chair for me and I thank him graciously as I sit down.
