Seven

The 24th: “Dude, you just let her out of your grip, man!” A crew member said.

“What am I supposed to do, forbid her from going?”

“You should’ve at least said something touching or sweet enough to make her stay.” Another crew member.

“No words could ever make her stay.”

“Nothing’s ever sure.” And another.

“Look, can we just rehearse?”

The 25th: I overslept and went to my mom to ‘bond’.

The 26th: I created a new routine. And then I slept. I ate dinner at my mom’s and crashed at her place.

The 27th: “What the— I totally forgot!” I was panicking, calling everyone I know and asking about an invitation, sounding very very VERY desperate.

I was about to give up when I received a call from Jim.

“Yo.” He greeted his typical greeting.

“What’s up?”

“Not much, how are you?”

“I’m okay.”

Awkward silence.

“Heard about the, uh..”

“It’s fine. Totally.”

“Are you, uh..”

“I’m positive.”

Awkward silence longer than the first.

“Do you think I should take the dance opportunity at some Anniversary tomorrow?”

“I don’t know, man. I think I’ll pass if you’ll take it, though.”

“I was thinking about doing your dance, you know.”

I smiled. “Well, I’m kind of zoning out for a few days.”

“I think it’ll be great. We wouldn’t know anyone there.”

“What’s the event again?”

“Some anniversary for a magazine or something.”

“Well, I was searching the world for an invitation—.”

“Chalk, or something.”

“What??”

“I think it’s Chalk Magazine.”

 A moment of silence for the birth of my happiness.

“I think you should take it. I mean, opportunities like this don’t come very often. You may be sorry for this one day in the future you know. Just to make sure not to miss out on any chances we should really go. Who knows, maybe we’ll be famous after that, maybe we’ll be asked in a TV show or be interviewed or end up in their cover for next month—.”

“I know you’re dying to attend it. Party starts at 8pm and we’re on for like 9, meet you at the Studio.”
