(Taylor’s POV)
I’m currently walking to work, headphones in my ears, my phone blasting the American Authors EP. As the song fades to an end I can faintly hear someone calling my name. I pause the new song, pull out the headphones and turn around to find the source. I see Sean directly behind me, who begins waving at me once we make eye contact. I wave back and stop walking, allowing him to catch up to me.
“Hey, Taylor” Sean greets me
“Hi, Sean” I reply
“Where are you headed?”
“Work”
“Work?”
“Work” I nod
“Where is work?” Sean laughs
“Meltdown, the ice cream place”
“I know what Meltdown is. I come here every summer, Tay” Sean nudges my shoulder and I blush at the mention of the nickname only one other boy has used for me, Luke. It sounds different coming from someone else, kind of weird. Almost out of place. I always thought of it as something special between Luke and I but Sean has seemed to take that away. Truthfully, I didn’t mind.
“Tay” Sean waves a hand in my face, snapping me from my thoughts.
“Yeah? Sorry”
“You just passed Meltdown”
I turn around and see that I walked a block past it. I quickly hug Sean and run away, yelling my goodbye as I jog to work. When I reach the door, I turn and see Sean has been watching me the whole way. I wave and he waves back and then I swing open the door and enter the shop.
Brittany and I exchange our hellos as I rush into the back and I throw on my apron and visor since I was a little late.
“You’re 5 minutes late, calm down” Brittany jokes and I stick my tongue out at her
“I accidentally walked past the shop.” I giggled, shaking my head at my stupidity
“How did you manage to do that?”
“I was talking to my friend, Sean” I shrug and help the customer that just walked in
“Is this Sean guy hot?” Brittany wiggles her eyebrows
“Very hot, but it doesn’t matter. I have a boyfriend, Luke, remember?”
“Right, right, the cute, blonde Australian at the end of your leash” she laughs and I give her a confused look
“Luke is whipped” Brittany explains
“Luke isn’t whipped” I protest. And he isn’t, he’s just overprotective and gets jealous because he loves me
