"Well. It's not really hard to figure out I didn't grow up like a normal person. I'm not sure if you remember all the stuff I told you before. About my real family, and my-my.. best..friend."
His voice started to tremble and shake again.. Like how it was when he first told me. I swear I could see glimmer in his eyes like they're watering up.
Not knowing what to do, I pulled the boy closer to me, into my arms."Hey. It's okay. I remember. That's not what I want to know.. I want to know you. I want to know your favorite color, your favorite foods, stuff like that. Let's talk about that.. And we can talk about the personal stuff when the time comes. Let me know you.. It should be a fun experience and I swear if you cry, I will too. Don't do that to me.." I told him as I ran my fingers through his black, soft hair.
His emerald eyes locked with mine and I could feel my heart start to beat faster.
Why... Why do you have this effect on me.. You're just a boy.. A killer.. But overall.. Just a boy.. Or is it overall, just a killer?
I was hoping he would lean in for a kiss just when heavy music started playing through his phone while vibrating.
I guess someone's calling him. His phone was face down and he answered without any rush."Mother?"
What? "Mother" ? Oh. That's his foster mom maybe? .. There's no way she's just now calling about Jeff's piece of shit "father" figure.
"Look. I don't need this. That's why I left. I don't know what happened, I saw on the news and that's it. My condolences. However it's not my problem for I'm not gonna care about those that do not care for me. Goodbye. You can stop calling."
Beep.
And just like that. The call ended.
Haha what the fuck just happened?
"Uh.. Is everything okay? Explain to me" I asked, even though it's pretty clear.
Jeff started to look panicked now. Only by slightly, you could tell he was clenching his jaw and rocking steadily back and forth with this .. weird look on his face.
"No. God. Fuck. I think she might have a clue I killed him. I mean, it was only a little while ago that happened, I don't know if she put my name as a suspect. I can't get caught, especially not this way. The fact that I took my things and literally left right after doesn't help. That was so sloppy-" Jeff paused, his voice was cracking now "-of me..."
Pain shot through me with every word he spoke. He's right. What are we going to do? Words can't even express what's going through my head, it's almost like it's actually starting to ache from it.
"We could run away but that'll only look more suspicious. You need to destroy everything that has his blood on it. Clean that knife too and toss it to be safe. You might not actually have to but I really would. Do you think it would be a little better if you act like you didn't bring anything here and just go back there, casually and say you just wanted some time?", thoroughly thinking it through, I tried to help.
He was speechless for a second until he got up and slipped on his Vans.
"You're very smart. I hope I don't fall for you. I'm getting too close anyways.. And I can't. Thank you. I'm taking your advice."
Rummaging through his bag, he takes out what looked like black cloth and started to unwrap it to gaze his eyes on his knife.I took a good look at the knife too. It looked just like butcher knife. What the fuck though, because you could much easily carry a pocket knife.
I'm gonna get him a Kershaw at least.
