As I drew stitches on my face with my liquid eyeliner, I pressed the home button on my iPhone to check the time.

Dammit.

I'm going to be late if I don't hurry. My friend Jordanna had invited me to a Halloween party, and there was no way in hell I was going to miss it.

My costume? It's.. Not that original, or creative. Just skeleton makeup, really, but I thought I did a pretty good job.

Whatever, I needed to go, NOW.

"Josafina! You're going to be late, doesn't that party start in like, ten minutes? Do you need a ride there?"

"Please! I'm sorry to bother you, Edward!"

Edward is my older brother. Three years older than me, to be exact. I'm 16, and he's 19. He's goes to college in a different city, but decided to come down for a visit.

"Hey, don't sweat it. Just get your punk ass in the car before you're surely more late than you already are.", he said in between a small laugh.

I hurried and grabbed my phone and made my way outside to his car, and plopped myself down in the passenger's seat, thankful that I didn't have to walk all the way to Jordanna's house.

..

Finally. After what seemed so long, the car stopped and Edward gave me a light nudge and told me we were here.

I guess I must've fallen asleep on the ride there.

"Thanks! Love you!", I said as I got myself up, smiling at him.

"I'm not saying it back. Have fun, and don't do anything you'll regret!" He reached over and rustled my hair.

I threw a half smile at him as I closed the car door and walked off to ring the doorbell of the now, spooky-looking house that was once just like all the other houses on the block.

Well.. I wouldn't say it was overdone, but hell. I was actually kinda scared. There were plastic corpses laid out in the front yard, with dried, fake blood staining the grass, and drive way. There was even "DO NOT ENTER" tape, wrapped around bars that stuck out of the ground, around the house.

Heh.

It's just like her and her family to do stuff like this.

Alright, let's see who's all here.. Who all outdone me, and how embarrassed I'm going to be.

I'm not.. Great as socializing. Everyone thinks I am, but really? I have anxiety.

I rung the door bell, and patiently waited for someone to answer the door.

Fortunately, Jordanna came within less than a minute. I'm glad it wasn't someone else that answered.

"Hey! You're just in time!"

"Really? I was scared I was late.", and I felt even more that I was, considering as soon as she opened the door, there was blaring music and people already there inside, drinking out of red plastic cups.

I followed her inside, and she told me to make new friends. NEW FRIENDS? Ugh, she should know that I AM NOT good at that!

I looked around to see if there was anyone I knew.. To my relief, Nia and Jorden were here! They date, but never really make me feel like a third wheel. Jorden didn't have a costume on, but Nia had fake blood and cuts all over her. Damn. Pretty nice.

"Hey guys!", running over to them, their faces looked surprised.

"Nice, nice!", Nia said, referring to my makeup.

I looked up at Jorden, wondering what he thought of it.

"Damn. You look hot." ..I hope he was kidding, he's such a.. Nevermind.

Then. I felt it.. Someone was staring at me.

I quickly looked up, looked around and scanned the room, but I didn't see anyone who had eyes locked on me.

I'm sure Nia and Jorden wondered what my quick movement was about, but I didn't care.

I felt.. So unsettled.

"Hey. I think I'm going to go get something to drink..", I said to them, as I walked off.

I asked Jordanna if there's any alcohol in the punch, and she told me she should add some if that would please me, but I told her I didn't care.

I scooped some punch into a red plastic cup, with one of those big, weird spoons. I was about to make my way back to my friends, when I felt it again.

The Staring.

my god this is really going to annoy me.

I shot my eyes around the room, but this time.. It didn't end the way it did before.

I felt hands around my waist, and I quickly looked up.

Whothehell.

"Oh! I didn't mean to scare you! You looked so...lost.. Are you alright?" The guy asked.

He had that skater haircut, black. A white face, which I'm guessing it caked with makeup, a cut in smile (probably lipstick and fake blood) and blacked out eyes, which I assume to be eyeshadow. Damn..

With all of that, this boy was still stunning.

Shit. What to do.. What to say?!

"Oh.. I-I.. Felt someone s-staring at me! Just curious of..wh-who it was.. Was it you?" I tried to avoid eye contact. Ohmygod. He had light green eyes, that were an orangish color around his pupil.

He laughed, and blushed a little before answering "Oh my. Yes, that was me.. I am so sorry about that.. Umm.. Ma'am?"

Oh hell. I didn't even introduce myself.

"I'm Josefina!" That came out sounding more happy than I meant it to, I guess I was just actually okay with talking to him now. The tension.. Was weirdly loosened.

"Josefina..such a beautiful name.", he smiled.

I waited for him to tell me his name, and just kinda.. Blankly stared at him.

"Ohh! I'm guessing you want to know.. My name.. Don't you?", he seemed nervous.

Aw, how cute.

"Well.. Yeah, I was hoping you'd tell me it?" I smiled, and realized he was still holding me by my waist.

Dammit.

I'm blushing, and so was he, and he quickly let go.

What? That's not what I wanted. Wait.. I just met him, I need a water bottle, damn.

"I don't..really have one. Uhh.. I gotta go.." He looked more nervous than before.

Doesn't have a name..

That's weird.

"Wait!", calling after him, he seems to be in rush, but stopped at soon as I said that one word.

He turned around to face me.

"Y-yeah?"

"Give me your number? You seem like a cool guy. We should talk sometime." I was hoping to not come off too eager to get this mystery boy's digits.

"Uh.. S-sure.."

I took my phone out, and clicked to a new contact and handed it to him.

Why was he stuttering? What's there to be nervous about? It's.. Just me.

"Here, but now, I really gotta go.." He handed me my phone back, and gave me an apologetic smile.

Ohmyflip.

I just got his number.

F&@$ yes!

"Who was that hottie?" I looked up to see Nia, hungry for answers.

I just laughed.
