Tom POV:

We are still waiting for Anne. My whole family misses her and we can only hope that she'll be home soon. Besides my wife we are very lucky. All of my boys managed to survive the apocalypse. Hal has a steady relationship with Maggie, Ben has been discovering more about the spikes, and Matts just blowing things up as usual.
But I know it isn't completely over. But I find myself surprised at the fact that the aliens are no longer the problem. We manage to live harmoniously with them now. The real problem is the humans, the ones who won't just agree to let them stay here. Also, they despise Ben, or more his spikes.

Ben POV:
I was walking towards the science lab when I saw my dad. He was just sitting there with his arms crossed lost in thought again. This has been happening a lot while we've been waiting for Anne to come home. I run into Hal as well.
"Hey Ben any news on Anne?" He asks and it hurts me. He has never called her 'mom' once.
"No mom hasn't checked in yet but there is still hope." I say and he laughs.
"Guess we weren't meant to have a mom of any kind no were we" he says with a chuckle. As he walks away he ruffles my hair, which he knows I hate.
When I get to the lab I'm the only one there. But that's normal, sometimes guards will be there but other than that, they usually just keep away. They say they stay away because of the lab but I know the real problem. It's my spikes they're scared of. But then again everyone is except my family.
Hal POV:
I walk away from Ben and towards Dad. I stop myself just outside his office. I wanted to knock and come in and talk like old times. But a part of me knew that could never happen. I could never talk about cars or a high school field trip. I expected the end of this war to feel good, but it only brought pain that we were fighting our own species. My dad has been shut up in there since we got back and only his sons were allowed to see them. I was the only one who hadn't. I wouldn't let him see me. I was done with his crap. If he wants to talk he'll have to come to me. I can only walk away, until I hear an explosion come from the lab. I remember Ben was going there. I wasn't worried about him being injured but rather being taken. I started running and I heard footsteps behind me. My dad knew he would be in there too.
