Most girls my age wanted dolls and dresses but I wasn't like most girls I wanted a piano

Not just any piano an antique Sterling piano but my mamma before she left insisted on dolls and dresses each time she suggested these things I would stomp much foot and shout "No mama I want a Sterling piano and I want to have lessons!" then Daddy would explain to me that Sterling pianos weren't around as much as they used to be, I didn't care though. Each Christmas and Birthday I would ask mama and daddy to buy me the piano but each time I never got it instead dolls, dresses and other useless toys.

By the age of nine years old I'd given up about owning an antique Sterling piano till my birthday arrived mama closed my eyes telling me the next present was a surprise the sound of something being dropped like hard wood echoed throughout my childhood home, the dog Beans barked at whatever was behind my eyes, finally mama removed her lavender smelling hands revealing my dream - the antique Sterling piano! It was a beautiful dark mahogany brown, with black and white keys there was a small stool in front of the piano for sitting then I seen the multiple note papers of different songs I never cried so hard in my life, mama and daddy held me in there arms explaining how they wanted to wait, also on how I would start piano lessons every Saturday afternoon because Sunday's was church.

After mama and daddy finished explaining I went over to the piano hugged the mahogany wood it smelt like dust but I didn't care.

Just like mama and daddy explained every Saturday became piano lessons with a lovely black lady named Mrs. Reith she had black braided hair, soft brown eyes and chocolate skin only her palms were pink, she smelt like honey and flowery nectar and half of her clothing articles were spotted, lace and stripes.

Both Mrs. Reith and me became friends we started from simple child songs like Mary Had A Little Lamb, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and School Bus but once I mastered these songs Mrs. Reith taught me older music like Beethoven, Yiruma and Handel by the age of twelve I could play everything including cover music like Taylor Swift and Green Day.

Soon though Mrs. Reith left she told me that I conquered all the great pianist and maybe someday I could write my own music, Mrs. Reith kissed my head after telling me this she wiped her eyes as I did the same then she hugged me the smell of honey and flowery nectar engulfing my noes then she took off - this was the last time I ever seen Mrs. Reith. Since she left the piano stayed in its place just where daddy left it on my ninth birthday.
