10.2 Koreas 2 Year Military Service Rant

Lol so this is kinda a rant/ something for me to talk about to relieve my thoughts about it

Go those of you who don't know, Korea has a compulsory 2 year military service that all males aged 18-35 have to go to, otherwise they end up in jail! (Woman can go too!)

Also, there has been a recent update in he law that any Korean person or Kpop idol can be called in for military enlistment. at any time as log as they are between 18-35! Although you can still enlist when you want to, but you also have the chance of being called to enlist whenever.

This doesn't count for all Koreans, people who have mental/ medical issues don't have to go as well as Koreans who are born out the country (most Korean parents move to foreign countries to give birth to their child so that they don't have to go to the military when they come back to Korea) for example, if Korean parents give birth to their child in America and move back to Korea afterwards, since the cold was born in a foreign country, the don't have to go to military. As well as foreigners in general don't have to go.

Now that means idols (KPOP/kdrama idols) also have to go to this.

And I was thinking how much it kinda sucks that these idols are gonna miss out on so much (they have no cellphones/internet, except for a 2 month break) and how they could come back with a different personality.

Like for a KPOP group, I'd only 1 or 2 members leave and not the whole group, they could still perform and create music but this will be without the other members, causing them to miss out for 2 YEARS.

And If the WHOLE group leaves, that means no updates/music/ performances, for 2 years! Like, that's a long time! It really sucks for not only us, but them.

I also get scared that the military would kinda change their personality a bit and make them more stern/harsh, but I know a few KPOP idols who have done military and there're the same (like Heechul from Super Junior) but I still get worried that they could change a 'always happy person' to a 'not as HAPPY person.'

And I know this is stupid, and it's never really happened before, but maybe going to the military could break up a group, cause they change/they aren't with each other for a long time so it disrupts things? (As far as I'm concerned, this hasn't happened before) or they break up before the military so it won't be a struggle (I'm also sure this doesn't happen unless the group has been together for ages. But still I have seen no records of this happening.)

I do know a few kpop idiots who have enlisted and are probably in military right now, for example,

Most of Big Bang are doing military right now and most of Super Junior. I'm not sure who is enlisted  for next year though. (Also I'm pretty sure military service doesn't start in the beginning of the year, almost half was through the year.)

But I was just having a moment where i was looking at a KPOP group (BTS) and saying to myself: "they are all old enough to go to the army... they could leave any year now". But I know I should worry about it because that is only in the future, they are still young (the average age to leave for military is late 20's early 30's) so they have plenty of time, and they are also very busy with their whirl and tour, so they aren't probably gonna leave anytime soon.

In that case, you and I should stop worrying about when they are leaving for military until the time comes, we support them now with their career and when the time comes we send them off for 2 years, but let's live in the and stop worrying about the future.
