Five: The Goldstein SistersDate: 15th December, 1924
Elise woke up abruptly at four in the morning, jostling up from her bed. It had been an automobile which its horn blared from down the street, probably causing a wave of complaints from every neighbour.
Falling back, she shut her eyes again: hearing the gently snores of Wesley next to her face as she turned to her side. Though once Elise tried to fall asleep, she was prevailing. Instead: she mentally groaned in exasperation for herself. The woman was tired and it was four in the morning, how could it get any worse!
Unfortunately, the paper dragon next to her decided to slap his tail right onto her warm cheeks. Elise cringed as she felt Wesley's scale scratch her face, causing her to finally get up and huff in frustration.
"Wesley, I believe it's morning." Elise rubbed her eyes as she yawned, only to hear a snore as a reply. In the end she did not plan on disrupting her friend and decided to get out and get ready for the day ahead.
Ever since the trials, Elise had began working in the Auror office, learning how MACUSA operated and the clear differences between the Ministry and the American Wizard law. All together with the unfortunate presence of Noel.
However, she had gotten over his demeanour and took their relationship only as work colleagues. Elise didn't attempt any friendly gesture, only to cooperate with him when it is needed.
She had replaced her old gloves with a new pair before waking Wesley up before Oscar could find the paper dragon sleeping on the bed.
The butler knocked on her bedroom door and said, "Miss Elise, are you awake now? I've come to take your laundry."
Elise tucked all her magical books into her trunk, placed Wesley in her pocket as well as her wand and tidying up her bed with a quick spell before Oscar entered in. All in a matter of a few seconds and a few annoyed whines from the paper creature, the suite was fully tidy and not a trace of magic was seen. The butler stumbled in and grabbed the basket on the old trunk, and smiled meekly at Elise.
"Madame Heather is out of town for a few days." Oscar announced before he left the door.
Elise smiled and replied: "Thank you for notifying me, Oscar. Urm...Is my father awake?"
"He's already downstairs in the dining room." He informed her before tripping out of the room. It was rather amusing, and Elise noticed this as she found the paper dragon snorting rings of smoke.
She quietened Wesley down and continued getting ready for another day at work. The day before, Mr Furgessen had planned for Elise to sort out the criminal papers, sorting them out for trials. It caused her eyes to ache so much at looking at parchment that she felt empathy to all the teachers at Hogwarts for having to mark every single essay.
Drawing the curtains back, a small ray of sunlight lit up the room from the peek of brownstone building in front of her. The glass fogged up from the cold as a small breath touched the frosted surface. Elise wanted to sigh even more, fiddling with her fingers despite having to skin contact with them.
It was odd to say that she never had a proper physical interaction with anyone. A handshake would be a quick one and a hug towards a friend... 'Well, I have no friends anyway. So that ticks off the list' She sarcastically said in her head. And if anyone heard her large contemplation in her life, they would be very bored of it.
