Lynn breathed in and out to calm her nerves and control her emotions.  She let herself be led into Alton's blasted out front door.

The inside of the home was a war scene that froze Lynn at first.  The dead lay where they fell, including the two black dressed men.  A evil looking black mist still lingered around the two men. Lynn could feel the wrongness of the dead men without even going near to them.

Roar was still tugging on her so she forced her mind to calm.  Runner had disappeared but came back into the office area, "Please hurry, she's fading fast!  Her aura is weak and nearly out, Mage Lynn."

Rushing  to the back Lynn was afraid of what she was going to find.  What she did find was Alton and the male Mage both trying to heal Corla, who was on a couch.  A vile mist sat on Corla's midsection that looked like the mist around the two black clad dead in the front area.

Runner gave Lynn a desperate look and silently pleaded for her to do something, anything.  Watching the two men work she waited to see what they could do.

Alton leaned back on his heels and breathed a frustrated sigh,  "The wound was made by a magic weapon.  Such a thing is difficult to create and would take a huge amount of power from the Mage that made it.  Why waist it on a Mage that said the wrong thing, Gual?"

Gual looked up from Corla's prone body with clenched teeth, "They are parasites, Al.  Stealing the essence of another to empower themselves further is wrong, and you of all people know it."

Now Lynn was even more confused.  She had never heard of what they were talking about.  "What do you mean, steal from others their essence?  That would be evil!"

"What if that Mage thought it was their right, child?"  Gual said to her.  "What if, like Nobles, you thought it was normal and a birth right?  What then?  Is it still evil?"

"Yes."  Lynn replied in a whisper.

Alton stood and took Lynn's hands, "You would be right, Lynn.  This is why we have fought so hard to ensure that those that believe that way will never rise again."

"There's little that I can do for her.  I'm sorry but unless you have a miracle, Corla is going to die."  Gual said aloud to the room in general.

Runner tugged on Lynn.  Looking to the child, Lynn wiped the tears from her own eyes.  Runner was not crying and but said, "How did you get here so fast?  Didn't you ride the mount with that female rider?  Could that get you and Mage Corla to the Tusk, to where your more powerful?"

Hugging Runner, Lynn ran out to get the rider and mount.  Alton heard the exchange and figured Lynn had a plan.  So he picked up Corla and ran outside with her.

Lynn had to hold Corla in her arms while the mount ran.  It's long hairs and feathers had to be mulipulated to help hold the two females on it.  The mounts could hold the three women but only because Corla was a small female and the rider was one of the best in the land.

Roar flew in front of the mount letting out blasts from time to time to move the slow out of the way.  Most people stopped and stared at the spectacular troupe as they went past.

They reached the Tusk in no time and a Guardsmen took Corla for Lynn.  Instructing him to follow her, Lynn led him to the observation room.  Head man Jan met them there and told the Guard to go watch for Runner and Alton.

Feeling the power of the Lay Lines, Lynn began to try to heal Corla.  The wound was half physical and half spiritual.

The mist still hung about Corla's midsection, so Lynn tried to delve into that to see if the mist was causing some of the issues.

She immediately felt lancing pain.  Not pain from Corla, but pain from another.  It was the soul wrenching pain of a soul that has been betrayed and used.

Lynn realized that she would have to heal the soul that was now attached to Corla, before she could heal the women herself.  If only Lynn understood what it was that had done this.

A voice entered Lynn's mind, it was the voice of Mage Gual and Mage Alton mixed together.

"The weapon that did this to Corla was created by using the persons own life energy."  They said as one.  "Created by a form of magic use, known as blood magic.  The blood Mage uses living essence and twists it for the purpose of making a weapon."

Lynn thought back, "It's in pain.  I can't heal her until I heal it."

"It's not a person any longer, Lynn.  It's now a weapon.  The blade and the being have become one thing."

"Maybe, but the soul within the weapon was a live and thinking being once.  I think I can touch it and heal it.  Then the rest will be a physical wound and easy to heal."

"Listen, Lynn!  We fought these kind of Mages while on our walk together.  They do nothing but take and leave death in their wake.  If you try this you could lose yourself.  We will be there soon."

"Let me try."  Lynn thought and then closed her mind.  She could hear them distantly but they no longer could stop her.

The mist was alive.  Lynn could feel it's anguish and pain at what it had become.  Tricked into the half life that it had lived until the moment that it joined with the one it was now killing.  It was killing the one to be free of its own existence.

Short one this time around but having a rough few weeks.  I will make it up next chapter, I hope!
God bless and take care of you!
