When the sun rises, Levi has a plan. She's figured out what she wants to do, and she's determined.
When the weak rays of the early morning sun shine against her face waking her from her doze, she feels more energized than she has in a while. It warms her and sooths her, for the first time in her memory she cannot wait for the sun's peak.
She slips out of bed and pulls on clothes that have been left here over the years. It consists of dark skinny jeans, which used to be a bit looser, and a white long sleeve with a gray V-neck over the top. She ties a black hoddie around her waist and pulls her hair up into a pony tail. She finds a pair of old prescription glasses in her bed side table. A thin black metal frame.
Gray low top Converse are adorned and a small black empty duffle bag is in her grasp. She has never been awake at 5 in the morning, and it's a new experience.
No one else is awake or outside, and everything has that early morning calm. Clouds of dew hang over the ground, reluctant to leave. The dew itself soaks her shoes and shines on the grass. Ever so silently she makes her way to the male pack house and edges in the door.
The stairs she knows like the back of her hand and she jumps the top step to avoid the squeak. She packs clothes and pictures. That's all. She finds the necklace that she wore when Marcus found her. A moon curved to fit to the side of the sun on a long leather strip. The Sun/Moon are made of silver and coated with a lacquer so it can be worn. She slips it over her neck, and manages to tuck it into her shirt.
With that, and the knowledge that Hannah will be leaving, she finds herself standing in front of the Mercedes that Hannah will take. There are two large suitcases in the trunk, and the car is still new. She looks down at her hands and find the are shaking. They have been all morning, and Levi would be more concerned, but she's finally accepted her fate. This is something that has to happen.
Levi waits for Hannah to return.
When Hannah DOES come out of her house, she is in a white blouse with short ruffle sleeves and a pair of blue jeans hanging on her hips. She wears sandals with silver straps. Hannah is completely shocked. When she went over to the Beta's house and up to Levi's window, no one was there. The bed had been slept in, but that was the only indication that Levi had been there... other than her blue dress on the floor. Hannah had wanted to ask Levi to come with her on her test. She didn't want to believe the test was true, but when she woke up without Kol, she knew it was.
"Morning." Hannah says cautiously, moving over to the car.
"Morning." Levi snips. She's not in the mood for pleasantries. The pack links in her mind are vibrating, it's causing mild discomfort.
"Well, w- are you okay?" Hannah asks, fingering her keys, anxious to leave and find Kol. She wonders if this is part of the test. But she is truly concerned for Levi, and it gives her the will to stay here and ignore the yanking in her chest.
"Fine. Well as fine as I can be. I was right about the test?" Levi asks, already knowing the answer. If she remembers right, it's called something stupid, like 'The Journey' or 'Strength of Bond' or something like that.
"Uh, yeah. Yeah you were. I was just about to, uh go. I was going to ask you to come but uh..." Hannah says, obviously observing her tense posture and the determined look in her eye. The bag and outfit were also a clear give away.
"I was about to ask." Levi says, tilting her head a little and giving a smile. Hannah eyebrows shoot to her hair line as she nearly gawps at Levi. Confusion and surprise is written on all of her features, and Levi never expected less. Actually she expected more.
"Uh, but, uh, Marcus. The hospital a-and your condition and everything." Hannah manages after a moment.
"C- I'll be alright. C-can I explain in the car?" Levi asks, anxious to leave this place. Nothing here is home, and she doesn't belong. She has never belonged.
"Well, uh, yeah. Let's go." Hannah says, motioning to the passenger's seat. Levi accepts with no comment and slides into the seat. A few minutes of silent driving, and they pass the border of the Fallen River Pack. Levi says good bye to the family she's only known, to the place she's only known.
"Um, so are you going to tell me what happened last night? When you sort of almost died." Hannah asks, looking at her, then turning back to the road.
"Well, I just got in a fight, my head started to hurt, and the room spun. I just fainted, nothing to worry about." Levi tells her, tossing her small duffle in the back seat.
"Are you sure? You didn't go to the hospital, and when I asked Kol he said that your heart is so slow it's a miracle your still here." Hannah says lowly and sad. Levi is surprised that Hannah asked him. Hannah never really was mean to her, but she never stood up for her either. Man this girl is confusing.
"I'm as good as I'll ever be. Really Hannah, I'm fine. So! How do you know where we're going?" Levi asks, to change the subject.
"Well, I can still smell his scent. It's warm and gives me the chills. It's been getting fainter though, and I don't know, it's like there's a rope around my heart, and around his. It leads me to him, pulling me in his direction." Hannah explains to her as best she can. Levi listens and she remembers the feel of the hook pulling around her heart. She wonders... it could be. No.
At 9:30, Levi decides it's time to contact Marcus. He's got to be worried.
He closes her eyes and tries to find his little voice. It always tells her what he's doing, because no matter what he's doing, he thinks about it, thinks about her too.
But... she finds no voice. None. At all. Her eyes fly open and she gasps.
"Hannah, stop the car!" Levi shouts. Hannah flips, and slams on the breaks, the car goes sliding off the deserted highway, and Levi falls out the open door.
"How? How?" Levi whispers, breathing deeply through her nose.
"Levi! What's wrong? What is it?!" Hannah asks, jumping out and running to her side.
"They're gone. There all just... gone." Levi whispers. Her head feels light, and empty. There is room for her thoughts and her voice to guide her. Celeste is silent, but it feels as if Celeste is the only thing in her mind. It is empty right now. Blank.
"Whose gone? Levi whose gone?!" Hannah asks, getting extremely worried.
"Everyone. My mind links. They're gone. It's empty. It's... freeing." Levi looks up at Hannah who seems to have gone pale.
"I didn't mean to freak you out. It's just... weird. I- I was confused. It's alright." Levi says, huffing her breath and standing.
'It's been a morning full of surprises, I'll give you that.' Celeste grumbles.
The two girls get back into the car and start off on the road again. Hannah warily looking at her, while Levi still reels from the loss of her pack. That's the only reason she can think of... to feel like this. She's lost them. She's actually alone.
