Chapter 7

Ring Ring Ring...

"Hello?" I picked up the phone

"Hey, come outside," Derek said and hung up. There is no way that I'm going outside to see that freak. 

It's been 30 minutes since his call, and he has not stopped banging on my front door.  I don't really care, he's a douche.

My dad came home and yelled at him, and made him go away. Thank goodness for him. I walked upstairs to my bedroom, and my phone rings, AGAIN.

"Hello?" I ask.

 "Um, hey... Can I talk to you... in private?" Ana said.

"Are you with Derek?" I said, with a little attitude.

"No," She said, after a pause.

"Fine, where?" I ask.

"The woods by the park." She told me and hung up afterward. The woods? That's where Alexis was murdered. Thinking about her and what happened makes me shiver.

I get dressed and walk out of the door. I start the car and I drive. When I'm driving, I think of him... Andy. He's beautiful, his blue eyes, his chiseled jaw.

When I reach the woods, I hop out of the car and I walk to Ana, who is standing at the entrance.

"Hey, Ky." She says with a sad smile.

"Hey, Ana... What's going on?" I ask her.

"I really need to tell you something... You're my best friend, I can't keep this from you." 

"Um... okay go ahead..." 

She waits for a long time to say whatever she wants to say.

"This really hard to say, and you're not going to believe m-" My phone rings before she finishes.

"Hello?" I say.

"Kylie! Get home right now!!" My dad yells and then hangs up the phone.

"I'm sorry Ana, I have to go... I guess I'll just see you wherever." I say with an attitude. She starts to say something, but I don't listen and I jump in the car. She brought me out here just to waste my time.

Right when I walk in the school, Ana starts to talk to me.

"Hey, can I finish what I was trying to tell you yesterday?"

"Anastasia! Kylie!" Derek yells when he sees us. I roll my eyes and mentally prepare for what's about to come next. He finally reaches us. "Kylie, please talk to me! I'm sorry about yesterday... Please just don't hate me forever." He begs.

¨Why do you care so much? It's like you're obsessed or something.¨ I said with a sassy attitude.

¨There are things that you don't understand, that you don't even know about. I care so much because I feel a connection between us. Don't deny it and say it isn't true. I know you feel it too.¨ I will say that I do kinda feel it. but I don't want him to know that. ¨Can we please talk after school?¨ He asks me.

¨Derek, could we just tell her? I don't want to keep this a secret any longer.¨ Ana asks Derek, a small tremble in her voice. He paused for a second, thinking. He finally answers, ¨I don't know if that's a good idea. But we can try.¨

¨Hello? I'm still here. I can hear you guys. Tell me what? Whats going on?¨ I'm really confused on whats happening and what they're talking about. 

¨Listen, we will tell you everything after school. I promise¨ Derek says to me. He and Ana walked away. I guess they're coming to my house after school.

After school, at home.

I wait on my couch in the living room, becoming impatient. Finally, I hear a knock on the door. ¨Come in!¨ Ana and Derek walk in, along with a guy I have never seen before. 

¨Hey Ky.¨ Ana says. ¨This is Ryder¨ She points to the unknown guy. 

¨Hi. I'm Derek's brother.¨ He says. He's actually kinda attractive. 

¨Hi, guys. Come sit down.¨ I tell them, and they do.

Derek starts talking after a moment. ¨So, we want to tell you everything. You have to keep an open mind though.¨ He explains. Hesitantly, I nodded. ¨Well, Were vampires. You're one, too. Except you're a different kind. You're an original vampire.¨
