Alright, here's Back To Her Roots, redone. It is very different from the original, because the chapters are too short, and most of what I have planned for this book will happen in Wyoming. This will move much faster, characters names will be changed, or characters will be cut entirely.
(I also wrote this whole first chapter, and I lost it, so it may be a little rough, because I have to remember the whole thing again!)
Anyway... Enjoy! ;)

"Hey, Kaylee, check out the guys playing volleyball over there" said my best friend Ashley, peeking over the tops of her sunglasses.
"Oh boy, here we go..." I mumbled, knowing where this was going.
"What? Oh, shut up Kaylee. You're just jealous because I can get guys and you can't."
My jaw dropped at her audacity. "What? Um, excuse me, but at least I'm not about to win the coveted trophy for 'most guys slept with' for junior year."
"Ouch, easy there Kaylee, if I didn't know you were being sarcastic, I would have wiped that smug little grin right off your pretty little face."
I just laughed. Ashley desperately wanted to set me up with some guy before our year was out. She said I needed to have some secret summer lover.
Ashley spoke again, continuing her sentence. "That, and if I marked up your face, your Gram would probably kill me. No offense, but she is really uptight."
"It's fine. I know, but she is just looking out for me. She says that as a young lady, I should take pride in my appearance."
"I get that, but she treats you like you're made of porcelain."
"Whatever." I waved her off, as we returned our attention to the delicious boys down the beach.
"Oooh, I'm liking the one in the blue and green trunks" she fawned. I had to agree, but kept my mouth shut. I didn't want to give her some leverage to find my summer fling. I didn't want one.
"If you'll excuse me Kaylee, I'm going to go introduce myself..." Ashley trailed off as she got off of her beach lounger to my left. She waltzed over, chest protruding like a turkey.
Oh please... I thought. Poor girl, she tried so hard, whereas I was getting looks just laying here. I watched the scene unfold as she approached. The boys heads turned, and a few eyebrows went up suggestively.
Ashley cocked her brunette head as she picked out the guy she had mentioned earlier. His lips played a crooked, cocky grin. Ashley was in luck. They exchanged what I guessed to be formalities, and they both started laughing. She threw a thumb over her shoulder, pointing to me. He looked over Ashley's shoulder, leaning slightly to look at me, the rest following suit. Ashley waved at me, and motioned wildly for me to come join them.
I rolled my eyes. She wasn't just thinking of herself here. How generous.
Reluctantly, I got off of my lounger, and tossed my magazine down onto the chair. I ran a hand through my golden hair, making it a little more appealing as I approached. I could see the desire playing through some of the boy's eyes. 'Watch and learn Ashley' I thought.
Once I was in earshot, Ashley went to work. "Boys, this is my friend Kaylee. Kaylee, this is Tristan" she said, pointing to her boy, who gave a slight head nod. "And... These are his friends." Her voice was bubbly as she played off the awkward intros, motioning to the other five or so boys, all very nice looking.
"Kaylee Veranda" I said brightly, offering my hand to any who would take it. Tristan let out a slight chuckle at my manners. I mentally cursed myself, but then one of the other boys took it. I looked up, slightly shocked, into a pair of breathtaking ice blue eyes, under a mop of bleach blonde hair. I felt my breath hitch at the plesant surprise.
