The Disappearence

Knock - knock

Franches went on into the dark to write and draw in her precious journal in the middle of Dead Man's Lake on a little row boat, under the night time sky. At first it was peaceful, calm and quiet on the water in the light of the full moon that filled the partly cloudy starry sky.

But after a while of peace, there was a small tap on the bottom of the miniature boat. Then a few minutes later the knock was louder and got louder, until eventually it seemed as if someone was punching the bottom of the boat. As frightened as Franches was, she sat down and sobbed into her dull light grey sweater waiting for what ever was going to happen to just happen.

Once Franches gathered up enough courage to stand up and move one of the ores in the water to feel for a rock or a limb of a tree underneath the boat. Something strong tugged on the ore, as if it hadands. The boat began to rock back and forth. One mighty tug and Franches was in the water, and hasn't been seen since then. The boat was found adrift on the shore the next morning.

All that was left in the boat was her journal. The journal was filled with creative drawings and stories, but on the last page someone wrote with a muddy finger. The page read " I did knock first". Franches' parents panicked and called the police. There was nothing they could do but search the woods they camped in.

Eventually it was all over the news. "Franches, 14, gone missing during a camping trip at Dead Man's lake" the scratchy radio stated while Franches' parents were leaving Dead Man's lake devastated. The whole city was in grief because they lost the sweetest girl that everyone loved. The children in her town made rumors that supposedly Michael, a man who perhaps died 10 years prior to this unexpected incident, Franches' Disappearance, had had taken her or killed Franches.

Other rumors that are said, told by mostly the younger girls, that a beautiful mermaid to Franches to a under water kingdom because Franches can draw extraordinary pictures that they liked. Some kids like to make scary rumors and others like to make exciting and magical rumors.

Will someone find her or will she be gone forever?...
