It got to class and I walked to my assigned form room, and as expected, my day went by without a single trace from that drowning boy. To be completely honest, I was still perplexed by the whole ordeal. what exactly was he doing at the bottom of the pool and how did manage to stay under for so long with no major breathing issues? He'd hopped out, coughed up a gallon and continued on like it was an everyday assurance- how?
And another thing I found bizarre was when I walked into the canteen, seeing the boy walking between tables to queue up and the majority of girls looking up to try and meet his eyes. I, being the curious person I was, decided to join the line and talk to him about it, rushing off and slicing through the crowd much like a backwards butterknife through a piece of leather, whereas he to effortlessly glided between others like an ice skater ducking between the crowds that flocked his rink at christmas.
"HEY! Jack!" I shouted, finally falling through another wave of teenagers to be standing by his side, pushed up against him in the violently formatted queue. He seemed to catch his breath slightly, turning to face me with a vicious scowl and his fix curled up in a half-intentional snarl.
"what do you want, fecker?" He growled, looking me up and down before trying to casually lean against the wall the line was against, though ultimately being pushed back up by the lack of space.
Only now that I was so close to him, did I realise how much smaller he was- how his greyish-brown and green hair shone and the detail of his barely present beard. All this accounted for, nothing would compare to how beautiful I found his eyes. One of them was a calming but electric blue, lines of pale pigment streaking his eyes while his other was a mint green, pale with a darkened sclera.
I was pushed back to reality as the tide of people began to push, shoving both of us forcefully past the teacher who was guarding the opening of the line that was ramming us now in the direction of the poorly made food.
After a good 20 minutes of lining up to pay and finally leaving the canteen, he seemed to have thought he'd lost me as he walked back over towards the swimming building.
"hey, Jack! you never told me why you were in the pool this morning!" I yelled, catching his attention. he seemed to curse aloud, a boy with blonde hair who was passing by the dance studio stopping to look up at Jack.
"Yo, Jack! the fuck! come over here" the blonde looked angry, his arms crossed and a sparkly pink
"sorry, nerd, gotta run" The green-haired teen seemed to become timid, his eyes lighting up- literally i might add- with paranoia as he ran towards the school, diving into a crowd and disappearing.
