Today is Chrsitmas day and I couldn't be more excited. Jack and I finally get to tell Bella that her father and I are in a relationship. I managed to buy Jack a really nice watch since he told me he broke hus last one out of anger. I'm putting my dress on, when my phone starts ringing.
"Jack, I'm almost ready." I say as I slip on my pumps.
"Okay, okay, Bella is getting excited and so am I." Jack says.
"Okay. I'm leaving my bedroom. im in my living room. I'm opening my front door. I'm closing my front door. I'm walking two doors down. I'm knocking. You're answering." I say as I end the call and gove Jack a hug.
"Look up." Jack says.
I look up and there's mistletoe hanging. I smile, then I look back at Jack. He smiles back and gives me a kiss.
"Where's the pretty princess?" I ask as I go inside.
"Merry Christmas Holly!" Bella says as I walk in.
She runs up to me and gives me a hug. I notice that their presents are unopened.
"Why haven't you opened you presents from santa?" I ask.
"Daddy said we had to wait for you." Bella says.
With that, Jack walks in and comes over to us.
"Can we open the presents now daddy?" Bella whines.
"Sure, but theres something that Holly and I want to tell you." Jack says.
"What?" Bella asks innocently.
"Well, Holly is my girlfriend." Jack says.
Bella's face lights up and she smiles.
"So does that mean you're my new mommy?" Bella asks.
"Uh, Jack?" I say.
"She can be your mommy if you want, but you should ask Holly first." Jack says.
I give Jack a look as if to say 'you're done for'.
"Holly, can you be my mommy?" Bella asks.
"Sure." I say as I get up to go to the kitchen.
"Are you okay?" Jack asks.
"Im fine, but we've only been going out for a matter of weeks. She's only five so I guess it's okay." I say.
"I don't want to put you in an awkward situation." Jack says.
"You're not." I say as I go back to Bella.
We start opening presents and then Jack hands me a large box. I take off the wrapping paper off and open the box. A guitar.
"It's all tuned. Merry Christmas Holly." Jack says.
I give him a quick kiss and hug him.
"Play something then." Jack says.
"Are you sure?" I ask.
"Yep." Jack says.
"I have an original, but I'm not gonna do the whole thing." I say as I stand up.
"She was so clever for her age as a kid. She took pride in everything she ever said and did. She was born as an angel . Ticked every box on list. How could someone so beautiful end up like this? She was brought up in an everyday council estate. Had friends and family who were never too far away. Even as a kid she'd sometimes loose her temper. If attentions being given guaranteed she's in the centre. She had high aspirations. She was chasing the dream. Until her first conviction at the age of 14. She nearly killed a girl just for looking the wrong way. Smashed her head so hard against the ground. She was unconscious for days. Passers by stopped to witness the torture. Whilst she stamped on the head of a policeman's daughter. No remorse for the course of a magistrates court. It was everybody else's fault of course."
"That was amazing." Jack says.
"That was really good Holly!"
Bella says.
I smile at Bella, but then she bursts into tears. I put my guitar down and take her into my arms.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"I called you Holly instead of mommy." Bella cries.
"Oh sweetie, it's okay. It will take time getting used to. Don't get upset about calling me Holly by accident." I say as I reassure Bella.
"So you're not mad." Bella asks.
"Mad? I could never be mad at you." I say as I kiss her head.
After finishing with presents, Bell plays with her toys and I help Jack carry on with preparing dinner.
"Could you cut some carrots please?" Jack asks.
"Sure." I say.
I peel, cut and wash the carrots. Then I excuse myself and stand outside Jack's apartment.
"Hey mom." I say as I answer my FaceTime call.
"Hey baby, merry Christmas." My my says.
"Thank you. Happy Christmas to you too." I say.
"Where's Jack?" My mom asks.
"Inside dealing with the food." I say.
"Oh okay. Where is his little girl Bella?" My mom asks.
"Inside playing with her new toys." I say.
Just as my mom goes to say something, I hear a shout from inside. I push the door open and there is some blood on the floor.
"Mom, I'll call you back." I say before quickly ending the call.
I shove my phone in my back pocket and the dash inside. Jack has cut his finger. Not so bad that we have to go to the ER, but bad enough to need a band aid.
"Under the water. Now." J say as I turn the tap on.
I pick up the knife and wipe up the blood. I then see to Jack and I get the first aid kit.
"Dr Holly, you know you're so beautiful, even with my blood on your cheek bone." Jack says.
"What?" I say as J slowly look up as Jack.
He wipes the blood mark off my face and then we both click and look at each other. Our lips connect, but hen Bella walks in.
"Daddy, why are you kissing mommy?" Bella asks.
"Because we are in love and when two adults are in love, they can give each other a kiss to make them happy." Jack explains.
"Oh ok. Can I have some apple juice?" Bella asks.
"What's the magic word?" Jack asks.
"Please." Bella asks.
"I'll get it." I say.
