Ophelia Hernandez sat at her table in the back corner of the cafeteria. She didn't sit alone of course, she sat with the figments her brain had made up for her.

There was Zilo: the green boy with red horns and eyes.
Armaria: a little girl with long black hair, a wide smile, and no visible eyes.
and
Kismet: a tall boy with purple eyes and black hair.

Ophelia laughed, her head hanging down.

"Oh Kismet... you're hilarious." She whispered and threw her head back.

"Look at the crazy girl..."

Her head shot up and her friend's turned their heads to Harmony Holiday who stood with Patrik Oliver.

"She looks dumb" Kismet growled

"Yeah she does" Ophelia smirked

"He looks even dumber" Zilo nodded at Patrik.

"Perhaps..." Ophelia glanced at her friend.

"Should I hurt 'em?" Armaria grinned wide.

"Oh no, wouldn't want to mess up those big noses." Ophelia stared at Harmony's nose.

"What was that?" Patrick stepped forward and Ophelia stood up. Her three monster friends stood with her and they all walked out of the cafeteria .

At home, Ophelia was in her bed. She dreamt that her friends died and their corpses turned into monsters that came to kill her.

She woke up screaming, then realized it was a nightmare and started crying, crawling to the corner of her room where her friends slepts and cried, snuggling into them.

Kismet opened one eye and wrapped his arms around her. She fell back asleep the second he touched her, laughing rang in her mind and slowly faded into her recurring nightmares.

Ophelia's mornings happened like this: wake up, yell at her friends to leave the room so she could get dressed, then get dressed.

She would walk downstairs to eat breakfast, get into an argument with her dad and say she wanted to live with her mom: who was dead.

She would storm upstairs to brush her teeth and hair, then grab her bags and leave to catch the bus, her friends following close behind her.

She usually took the bus and sat in the one lone seat in the front, her friends stood around her.

Sometimes, on days like today, Ophelia would see other things on the bus: things that were not her friends.

She would shake her head and close her eyes, when she would open them the evil creatures would be right near her face.

She would scream a scream so agonized that everyone would turn, the bus driver would hit the breaks and  open his mouth to kick her off but she would already have flew out of the vehicle.

She would usually cry on the run to school, but one day a girl caught her by the arm and asked her if she was okay.

The girl was with another girl
and Ophelia smiled. She knew she had finally made friends that day.

The girls were Cassidy and Aiya, they were both funny and sweet. They had the same taste in music as Ophelia and they introduced her to KPop music.

A few weeks after they had a sleepover and her monster friends sat in the corner.

"I was thinking we could do shots!" Said Ashlyn: a girl who had also come and became Ophelia's friend.

"We should!" Said Xander: a boy who decided to sleep over too, he was very nice and made an executive decision that Ophelia was his best friend.

Cassidy and Aiya nodded, then turned to look at Ophelia.

"S-Sure!" She smiled wide

Ashlyn grabbed her bag and pulled out a bottle of purple alcohol.

"This is vodka that I put skittles in." She declared

They drank all night, then passed out, and strangely, Ophelia didn't have her nightmare. She didn't wake up screaming in the night. She woke up in the morning and all her friends were there to greet her.

Even the monsters.

At home in her room Zilo was angry in the corner. Armaria was sitting on the windowsill. Kismet spoke to Ophelia angrily.

"We're you're friends! We haven't hung out in forever!"

"Maybe because I made new friends and I want to get to know them better, you're still my best friends!" She hid her face in her hands and broke into tears. The three had been her friends since she was three, and she didn't want to lose them. Not that they would ever leave.

"We're all you have, you have no one else! No one else understands you!" Kismet slammed his foot down and glared at her.

"Ashlyn, Xander, Aiya, and Cassidy do!" She sobbed and Armaria ran forward to hug her.

"Look what you've done Kis!" She yelled and lay Ophelia's head on her lap.

Kismet lay on Ophelia's bed, his back to them. He said he was going to bed and fell asleep.

The next day everything was back to normal. It confused Ophelia but she let it go.

At school though, the evil creatures surrounded her. She held her head in her hands and shook. Her hands were cold, she was cold.

"What's wrong Phelly?" Cassidy put both hands on Ophelia's shoulders.

"These monsters won't leave me alone" she whispered and ran out of the cafeteria.

Laughing rang in her ears as the creatures surrounded her. She stuck her arms out in front of her as she ran.

She ran out of the school and all the way back home, she ran into her room, the monsters were all around her. She screamed an earsplitting scream and blacked out.
