The plane landed in Florida and it was around 1 PM. Thankfully I had left Ohio before the sun was even up, so I had the rest of the day ahead of me!When I got into the airport, I seen my brother Jeremy waiting for me. The minute we both seen each other, we ran and hugged each other. I had missed him so much.
"Woah, little sis!" he laughed. "I swear you've grown since the last time I seen you!"
"I missed you so much!!!" I smiled. "Where's the lucky lady who's marrying my brother?!"
"She's at the house. I can't wait for you to meet her!" he replied. "I know you and Stella will both get along so well!"
"I can't wait to meet her either!" I responded excitingly. We got into his car and we headed towards the little town of Oaklend where I would be spending my summer. I couldn't believe how many memories all the places along the way brought back. Nothing really changed about the town at all. It was still just a small beachside town. There were a few new buildings, but not much. I was glad that it was still the same though. It would've been strange coming home to somewhere that I couldn't even recognize.
We pulled up to my dad's house and the door opened immediately. My dad stepped out and waited for me to step out of the car, as if in disbelief that it was really me.
"Hey dad!" I ran up to him and hugged him as he smiled. "How are you?"
"I'm doing good." he grinned. "It's good seeing my little girl again. It's been too long. How's Ohio?"
"It's fine." I nodded.
"I heard you dropped out of college last semester." he mentioned.
"Jeremy wasn't suppose to tell you about that." I glared at my brother.
"Well, he did." he responded. "And I want you to know that I'm not disappointed in you. You've always been one to follow your heart, just like your mom did, and I don't want you to stop."
"Thanks dad." I hugged him again.
"Now let's get inside and catch up some more!" he ushered me through the door.
"I'm going to go get Stella." Jeremy told us. "We live right next door, so it won't take long."My dad and I went ahead and went inside. He began asking me questions about how my life was going, why I felt like college wasn't for me, and other dad things. He then started catching me up on how the town was doing and how his shop was doing. He loved working on cars and always told us that he'd work on them until he physically couldn't anymore. He'd talk for hours about his shop if you let him.
Thankfully, half way through his speech about how tore up his friend from down the street's car was, Jeremy and Stella came walking through the door.
"Stella, this is my little sister Aliza. Aliza, this is my fiance Stella." he introduced us.
"It's so nice to finally meet you!" she hugged me. "Jeremy has told me so much about you and all the crazy things you two use to do as kids."
"It's nice to meet you too!" I responded. "I'm so excited for you two! I finally get a sister!"
"I told Jeremy that since you haven't been home in awhile, we should have a big cookout tonight!" she smiled. "Maybe Jer could fix some hamburgers on the grill and I could make some sides."
"I don't think we have everything we'd need here." Jeremy spoke up. "I guess I could run to the store."
"I'll do it." I volunteered.
"No, we couldn't make you do that." she shook her head.
"I don't mind at all though. I kind of want to take a little drive through town anyways." I admitted. "I haven't seen everything in awhile."
"Well okay." she replied. "I might can start working on some of the food and we can just finish it all when you get back."
"Sounds good!" I nodded.Thankfully, my dad still had my old car. It was a little beat up from the amount of times I ran it into things, but he kept it up and running, and he kept the tank full. All I had to do was put the keys in the ignition and go.
Riding around the town was so strange. It felt like I had never left. I was so excited to spend the whole summer there again, just like I use to when I was a kid.
