Memories From Within (Warrior cat Fanfiction)

Chapter 1: The Ceremony

Flamekit was woken up to the paws of cats running. This is how she always woke up, her brothers running around like weirdos until she woke up. She got up and stretched, flexing her claws as she did. Once she finally was satisfied she looked over to her brothers who were still running. It took them a moment to realize she's awake.

"Flamekit thank Starclan you awake, the ceremony starts soon!" Her oldest brother Dewkit ran over to her. He seemed out of breath, usual Dewkit. His shortish white and gray fur bounced up and down as he ran outside of the nursery. Her brothers were always bugging her about the ceremony. Their apprentice ceremony.
"All Cats old enough to Swim against the current please sit under the Wet rock for a clan meeting!" Nightstar, their clans leader announced. She rushed over with her brothers to the Wet rock, surprised that she wakes up at the exact moment it started. They sat in the back, where they're mom, Yellowpool sat next to them. The leader and deputy sat on the rock, even the medicine cat. Flamekit looked confused, 'why was the Med. cat here? He's never here for any ceremony and he usually watches it from his den!', she thought. She brushed it off for now as Nightstar started her speech. "We have three kits that turned 6th moons today! They are ready to become apprentices! Dewkit, step forward." Dewkit stumbled forward, trying to look proud but ended up looking like he was on catmint. He somehow made it to the front in time while everyone just stared at him awkwardly. "Dewkit, will you uphold the duties of an apprentice until you get your warrior name?" She asked him gently. Dewkit nodded excitedly.

"yes, I do!" His tail twitched happily every second, it's surprising he was 6 moons. "Then until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Dewpaw!" Nightstar scanned the crowd for mentors. Her eyes stopped on a particular warrior that will defiantly hold up to Dewpaw. "Gravelfur, you are known to shape your apprentices into good warriors, and your ready to take on another apprentice! I hope you teach everything you know to Dewpaw." He nodded and headed towards Dewpaw. They quickly touched noses and went back to their original spots.

"Whitekit come forward." Nightstar went on. Whitekit, unlike his brother, calmly went up and looked up to Nightstar when he got to the front. "Whitekit, will you uphold the duties of an apprentice until you receive your warrior name?" Whitekit seemed calm but immediately showed he wasn't. "Y-yes, m-M-ma'am!" His ears twitched nervously. "Than until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Whitepaw!" She turned her gaze to a pale she-cat. "Sunwhisker,  you have been an amazing warrior that learnt everything well from Willowleaf, so you are definitely ready to take on your first apprentice! I know you'll do great teaching Whitepaw." The two touched noses and Sunwhisker whispered something quietly to Whitepaw, making him smile. He raced back to his original spot. Flamekit felt her paws tingle, she was going to become an apprentice! Her heart raced as Nightstar took a breath. She waited for her to call her name. But it never came. What she saw was Nightstar back up and let Mousewhisker step up. What was happening. Thoughts filled her mind, did she do something wrong?

"As you know, I'm growing old and I can't uphold being a medicine cat forever. So after the last 2 moons I've been looking for an apprentice, and it's finally time I chose her. Flamekit! Come forward." Mousewhisker looked at her. Flamekit walked over slowly, her eyes full of confusion. "Flamekit, I've been observing you to see if you got what it takes to become a medicine cat! And from what you have done to help your Clanmates and siblings from only being a kitten is remarkable, and I am gladly saying this and hope I get a good answer. Flamekit, will you be my apprentice?" Mousewhiskers eyes shown bright with determination. Flamekit swallowed, she didn't know what to do. All her life she dreamed of being a big warrior, even a leader! But everything now was changing, she could be a medicine cat, one if the top most trusted cats in the clan! She knew what her answer was.
"I gladly accept!" She smiled. Nightstar came next to Mousewhisker. "Flamekit, you will now be known as Flamepaw! Mousewhisker, we know you'll make a great med. cat out of her." Nightstar said proudly. Mousewhisker jumped down from the rock and looked Flamepaw in the eyes. She saw the happiness in his eyes for once instead of sorrow. They touched noses before going back to their spots. The crowd cheered, yelling their names. "Dewpaw,Whitepaw, And Flamepaw!" They chanted.
