We're a bit lost, to say the least.

When Lindsey's sea monster had attacked us, we hadn't been paying much attention to where we had ended up, so now it seems that we're just wandering the ocean aimlessly, hoping for some sort of magic to guide us.

Well, K.O. had prohibited the use of any of Lindsey's magic, for fear that it would hurt her, even though she kept insisting that she was fine.

But Mitch doesn't seem to care that we were lost; ever since Lindsey had given him the Sapphire, he's been as happy as ever. I scoff. If everyone had thought that I was the one with the power to make him happy, they haven't seen Mitch with his precious little toy yet, that's for sure.

"Do you guys want to stop and have a campfire and some drinks?" Mitch asks, looking around at all of us.

Lindsey nods, grinning widely. K.O. shrugs, but after he sees Lindsey's vigorous agreement he nods as well. Avi seems indifferent. He hasn't really spoken much lately, and I don't blame him. Luckily, Mitch has taken my advice and has been a little easier on the poor, heartbroken man.

Last night I overheard K.O. and Avi talking, and Avi was an absolute wreck. K.O. kept trying to calm Avi down, but Avi seemed like he didn't care about anything anymore, and that he had sworn he'd felt a connection between the two of them.

When he had said that, I slowly felt Mitch's words of "I know I feel something real" slipping out of my grasp.

K.O. had eventually succeeded in calming Avi at least enough to sleep, but judging by their conversation, it hadn't been easy.

It seemed to comfort Avi for a little while, but now he's still just as tense as he had been. He doesn't answer when Mitch suggests a campfire, and just shrugs with a downwards glance.

"That sounds lovely, Captain," K.O. answers, smiling and probably trying to lift Avi's spirits as well.

Lindsey grins and nods in agreement, so Mitch takes a few minutes to drive La Rosa Morti over to the nearest island.

When we finally arrive, the sun begins to go down, marking the end of a long day. I'll be honest; it was a little difficult to even comprehend time at all back in Kirstin's lair. But now, it seems that my body clock is back to its regular schedule. When Mitch is finally able to anchor the ship near the sandy island, he instructs K.O. and Avi to go look for firewood.

But apparently, he had been too impatient to wait for their return, because after a few minutes of the three of us shivering as the sun recedes, he sighs, shakes his head, and tells Lindsey to just light a fire with magic. Lindsey happily agrees and before we can even blink, a crackling, warm fire is in front of us, burning on absolutely nothing.

Mitch nestles into me, resting his head gently on my shoulder. I smile to myself and grab his hand in mine. How much of a coincidence is it that his head shape fits perfectly in the crook of my neck, and that his hand is like a matching puzzle piece?

"I see how it is," Lindsey says playfully, gesturing towards the two of us. "When I'm all cuddly with Kevin it's disgusting and we need to get a room, but with you two, it's alright."

"It is disgusting," Mitch replies. "All you straight people and your...heterosexualling. We're cuter, anyway."

My heart skips a beat. He's referring to us as if we were a couple. I mean...are we? I didn't think so, but the way that he's talking could certainly fool me.

Lindsey lets out a bubbly laugh. "Yeah right."

Mitch sighs. "At least Scott and I aren't swallowing each other's faces whole," he says, shaking his head and rolling his eyes.
