Demons
Chapter 7
JPOV
The week that Vanessa spent with me went by so quick. She seemed a little distant though. Like sometimes I would have to call her name two to three times before she would come back to me. Or when ever she would take a phone call into the room, she looked like she'd seen a ghost. I wanted to know what was wrong with her. What was bothering her so much that she wouldn't like anyone in on the secret? She was like a black hole. The information and light would collapse inside of her not to be left out; only showing a mask telling everyone that she was fine. But I know she's not.
Today I was dropping her of at her aunt's house. It's not like I was saying goodbye I was going to see her later. Hopefully. I wanted to bring her somewhere special to me, a place I've found years ago visiting here in Miami.
"Here we are," I say pulling up to the curb of Vanessa's house. She looked at me with a look of semi-sadness. I put my hand on her shoulder.
"You okay?" She nodded and looked at me smiling lightly.
"Just a little sad to see this week go by so fast," she said looking down at her lap. I could have sworn I saw a bit of blush appear on her semi-tan cheeks.
"Vanessa's embarrassed? Oh gosh!" I teased. She laughed and looked up at me.
"You're not as bad as I thought before, Bieber." I mocked sadness and anger.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I couldn't help but l laugh. I couldn't keep a serious face. She laughed with me.
"I had fun though, maybe we could do something like this again someday," she said to me. I smiled widely and nodded.
"Definitely." She smiled back at me and got out the car. I followed her movements and went to the trunk to grab her bags for her. She smirked.
"I can carry them. I'm a big girl remember?" She said teasingly. I wagged my finger at her.
"But I'm a gentleman. And I'm older than you...in dog years." She laughed at me.
"Yes, you definitely are the bigger kid. Considering that Saturday, I wake up to finding you in footsie pajamas, with a bowl of cereal in front of you while you were watching Saturday morning cartoons!"
"Hey! You can't go wrong with Luney Tunes and Dora the Explorer!" She giggled, trying not to die in laughter. I smirked.
"That's okay. I gotchu, Rosario. Watch."
"Is that a threat or friendly violent statement?" She asks laughing. I stroke my chin.
"I don't know. How about we talk about that over an adventure later today?" She looked up from the corner of her eyes and gave a gentle smile.
"I don't know...I mean I did have plans with this guy," my hopes became crushed, "You might know him. He's this like superstar. What's his name...Dustin, Lustin, Ustin, Austin...?" I smiled and laughed. This girl is a trip.
"How about Justin?" Her face lit up.
"Oh yeah! That was his name!" I rolled my eyes.
"So figure I'll come by to pick you up in about..." I paused, looking at the time. 12:24. "Say around 5?" She nodded her head.
"I'll be here." I grinned, drumming a beat on the trunk.
"See you then." I winked and she giggled.
I saw her leave inside her house and I couldn't help but feel happy. I'm getting closer and closer to her. She one of the most amazing people I know. And I'm not afraid to say I like her. I'm not afraid to say that I want her to be mine, so I could love her, hold her, kiss her...marry her one day. When I'm near her or with her, I feel normal. I don't feel like the celebrity I am. When I'm near her, as girly as it may sound, I get nervous. I feel at light as a feather. When our bare skin touches, I feel the electricity flow between us. I'm happy.
