CHAPTER ONE
“God I’m nervous” I say to my mom, who is more like my best friend.
“Don’t be darling, I wish I could come with you”
“Don’t worry mom, you won’t miss me that much, I’ll call you every day. I’m sure you’ll get tired of my whiny voice" I say playfully.
"Oh no I won’t" she says forming a perplexed tone "I can never get tired of that rat voice of yours" she ends playfully.
“PASSENGERS ON FLIGHT 2265 BOUND FOR Florida PLEASE PROCEED TO GATE 8” A robotic voice from the telecom says.
“My my, Grace it’s time to go, move it” she shoves me.
"Wait" she stops me "Hope you have everything with you, your echolac, your box, your other box, you’re ….-"
“Mom, I do” I say stopping her rambling. I look at the stuff I and my mom had packed and scoff, totally not the definition of travelling light. Well my reason is justified; I’m going there for sometime 6 months no joke. I turn making my mom’s hands on my shoulders to fall; I hug her and kiss her on the cheeks.
“I’ll miss you” I murmur.
“Go now” she says pushing me trying to hide her tears. I move up to a line where someone had directed me to, I finish all the procedures and finally I’m on the plane settled and that robotic voice comes on again.
I don’t really hear a thing , yeah, funny right, the only thing I grab is ‘we are about to take off’.The boy beside me taps me, I turn to him and WOW!!( In capitals) he’s handsome, he’s light chocolate, with grayish eyes that I could get lost in and god he’s muscular .
I stare, he motions to his sit belt and right now I’m dumb staring at him like a fool that I’m not.“Your seat-belt” he says in a thick accent and that snaps me back, I really need to stop that habit, God knows I stare at people too much. I know, it’s weird.
“Oh” I say buckling up “ thanks ” and I feel the plane moving.
I close my eyes thinking of my mom, I know she will be watching the plane from below; unfortunately I’m not staying by the window.
I can feel we’re already in the air and the plane is escalating, I open my eyes to see my seat mate staring at me smiling. He’s gorgeous.“First time on a plane?” he asks somewhat cockily.
‘Yeah duh! I’m not some rich kid like you obviously, that gets to ride when I wish to unless it’s necessary’ I wanted to say but resorted to a “yea” cause I’m sure if I said what I was thinking earlier he will brand me as bitchy.
“Well I’m Toby Collins” he says in that accent again that makes me think he is not an African upon his light brown skin.
"Grace Solomon" I say shaking his stretched hand.
“So what takes you to Florida?"
“School” I reply “you?”
“School and I also live there”
“Really? What school is that? ”
“University of Florida. You?”
“Same. It seems we are headed the same direction, thank God I meet you. I’m new and all and I don’t know the school like that, you could show me around and all that” I ramble and he just smiles, that boyish charming smile his light gray eyes twinkling and his lips curving upward .
"Sure" he says "So what do you want to study?"
“Business Administration” I say proudly it’s been my dream since I was a kid. I want to be called the CEO of a hotel, sometime I even forge my dreams, like last night I dreamt I owned one of the biggest and most famous hotel in my country and when I entered my building everyone bowed to me chorusing ‘welcome ma’am'.
