Chapter 3

Bang! Bang Bang!

Who in God’s name is that? The pounding continues, I curse under my breath getting up from the extremely comfy bed to open the door.

“Get dressed” a voice says as I open the door.

“Mom?”

“Yea I totally look like an old lady” he scoffs. I look at the face of the voice.

IT’S TOBY. I’m totally awake now, and then I realize what he said.

“Well good morning to you too, and mind you my mom is not an old lady, take that back”

“Sorry” he says sincerely “I’m just cranky this morning, my stupid alarm woke me up”

“And who set the stupid alarm? Me?”

“No me, today is your registration and screening day, I put the alarm just in case, to remind you. I can’t believe you forgot” oh yeah, it’s today!

“Blame the bed …, oh and my phone , it didn’t ring”

“Maybe cause its dead and you didn’t charge it last night?”

“Maybe”

“Get ready you’ve got an hour and the half to get to the school” he says checking his watch, does this guy really wear a watch to sleep?

“But really, are you sure you are cranky cause of the alarm” I tease.

“No I'm cranky cause I’ve not had sex” he scoffs, I cringe.

“Mind my innocent ears this early morning”

“Get ready you are wasting so much time talking, is this how much you love talking to me?”

“In your dreams Toby ” he huffs and turns to go to his room.

“Wait ” I stop him “Are you taking me to the school?” I ask hopefully.

“What do you expect, of course?”

“Ok, thanks” I turn and close the door behind me, rushing to the bathroom.
I can’t believe I forgot I was in another country I think as I enter the tub.

(5 hours later)

“Thank you so much Toby, you’re an angel” I say pinching his cheeks, he slaps my hand away.

I’ve grown so close to him in such few days.
If it were in my country and this kind of stuff happens- me sleeping in a strangers house- my mom would totally freak out saying they’ll kill me or use me for ritual or any bad thing that crosses her mind, telling me I shouldn’t trust strangers. Well I'm very grateful to have met Toby.

“Since you have finished your clearance and that registration stuff, let’s get you settled in” he says jacking my box.
“I’m not done with them yet. I still have to come back tomorrow they just rushed my hostel registration since I'm a foreign student-"

“Whatever” he cuts me off, carrying my heavy boxes leading us to my new hostel.

“Wow! The buildings are gigantic” I marvel and Toby just chuckles.
I turn to him curiously “Do you stay in a dorm or off campus?”

“Frat house” he replies.

“So you’re a popular guy?”

“Kinda”

We get to a door labeled ‘dorm 311’ I stare at the paper then the door then the paper again, I guess this is my room.

Toby notices my staring, huffs and decides to open the door without knocking. Wrong move. The door opens widely to a petit girl dancing in just her undies without music.

“Whoa!” he marvels wide eyes, his lips forming a smirk.

“What the hell?!!” she screams “who are you idiots?!” I can feel the steam coming from her head.

Way to start off with my new roommate, and just like that she shuts the door on our faces.

“Sorry about earlier, I’m Grace Solomon your roommate” I say when she finally allowed both Toby and I fully dressed.

“You should have knocked” she says looking a little bit embarrassed.

“We are sorry” only I said. I’m sure Toby isn’t seeing that he was smirking while she ranted at us earlier when he opened the door unannounced.

“It’s alright, get settled in” she tells me “And oh.., I'm Catherina Woods, but you can call me Cat”

I look her head to toe, with the way I'm staring someone may think I'm into girls, but no, I’m not. I just do it a lot for both sexes.

I noticed she was not as petit as I thought, she’s not on the big side either, but what I’ll say? ‘Any one bigger than me even by an inch is big' I’m five foot on the dot she should be around 5.4 or so, and she has big butt. Yeah, not close to Kim kardashian but never the less big compared to mine . Her boobs? Where ok, she was perfect mine was a D cup, and I'm sure she was American with her accent. And oh did I forget to say, she’s beautiful, long hair, long lashes, blue eyes , short but pointed nose, and full pink lips with elf ears, why do I say that? Her ears were a little bit long –ok not that long but still. I laughed out loud at my thought.

“Wow, you’re so creepy” I turn to Toby who just spoke out loud to the hearing of everyone in the room drawing me out of my thoughts.

“What?” I say confused.

“You’re creepy” he repeats “First, you stare at her like you just say an angel, then you start laughing. Weird!”

“Are you a lesbian?” Cat asks, they both sit on the bunk and stare at me. I scrunch my nose.

“Ewe, no. I don’t hold anything against gays, but no! I'm straight as a pole”

“With the way you were staring at me one would think otherwise” she winks, I groan, Toby chuckles.

“I said I'm not I just like staring” I whined not knowing what was funny when they both started laughing like hyenas.

“Toby I think it’s time to take your leave” I say getting angry that he was still laughing.

He ignored me turning to Cat. “I like you Cat” he winked and she blushes deep red, she looks totally smitten by him.

“Toby bye” I say trying to push his bulky body “Remember you wanted to sleep?”
“Forget that” he says still allowing me to push him “Don’t feel like sleeping anymore”

“Move it” I sigh.

“Wait!” he says stopping at the door “I don’t have your digits” he brings his phone and I recite my number, he turns to where cat is and she smiles and give him hers, then I shove him out the door and close the door on his face.

“Thanks again” I shouted at the door, but I was sure he could hear me cause I heard him say something like ‘I'm your knight in shining amour, of course your welcome’ but I'm not really sure my ears could be twitching.

I turn to look at cat smiling “I like your friend” she states, then stare at me with a straight face.

“LESBIAN!!” she cracks up. I frown.

“That’s not funny” I say which just increases her laughter
