Having his eyes trained on me startled me, but not as much as when he turned on his feet and started heading towards me. Normally I would have stood my ground; I could handle my own if it was just some guy trying to hit on me. I picked up my pace hoping he'd take a hint, but I knew I had no such luck when the steps continued at an even pace behind me.
When I decided to run, I spared a glance behind me only to find the boy walking at the same languid pace behind me, his multi-colored eyes watching me and his lips set in a firm line.
I managed to reach my house and shoved my key into the keyhole and unlocked the door before rushing inside and slamming the door shut, locking it behind her. I moved away from the door and looked down at the small space underneath the door watching in fear as a pair of feet stopped in front of the door for a while before walking off.
I stood perplexedly watching the door for a second; I couldn't believe a strange man I didn't know had just followed me home.
When the shadows of his feet didn't come back, I sighed in relief and removed my phone from my pocket about to dial Jasmine's number when I felt a presence behind me. Holding back the scream that was threating to break free from my throat, I turned around slowly to find the boy that had been standing outside my door, right in front of me.
This couldn't be happening, what did he want? How the hell did he even get inside? These thoughts flashed across my mind but one thought stood out loud and overrode them all. PANIC!
I opened my mouth about to scream but the boy lifted his hand and no sound came from my mouth. My eyes widened in horror as I closed my mouth and opened it again. No sound came out again. I was frantic now, my panic a wild thing in my chest that threatened to take hold of me. I reached for my throat and looked at the boy, he looked calm scarily so, and that frightened me even more. He watched me for a second before opening his mouth and saying,
"If I return your voice, do you swear you will not make a sound?" The boy asked, his voice was deep and rich.
I nodded my head. The boy slowly let his hand fall down and with it my voice came back. I held my throat delicately, not believing what had just happened.
"W-What are you?" I stammered, moving away from the boy until my back hit the door.
"I am what you humans call a Jinn." The boy said.
"A J-Jinn?"
"Yes." The boy said, taking slow steps towards me.
"That's impossible, those things don't exist." I said, trying to move to the side, away from the boy but ended up getting cornered by him.
"Neither do Demons, Witches, Wendigos and Ghouls." The boy replied sarcastically.
"Prove you're a 'jinn' or I call the police." I said, we both knew he could take away my voice at any moment if he wished but I hoped he wouldn't call me on my bluff.
"This person you call 'police' cannot harm me." He said haughtily. He honestly couldn't believe that, could he?
"Do you really want to try that?" I asked.
"Alright," He said, lifting his hand, I feared he would try to hurt me or he had caught on to my bluff and my voice was going to be taken away again when his hand lit up in flames and large black wings appeared from the boy's back and also caught fire, but neither his wings nor his hand burned away.
I was stunned. I had seen a few magicians on the television play with fire but never like this. I had never seen any man sprout wings and ignite them. In fact I was sure nobody ever had.
