After my mother had dropped me off at Jasmine's house, I had promised once more to be home by tomorrow morning and exited the car. I walked up the few steps to Jasmine's house and knocked on the door.

It opened and Jasmine's brother, Simon, stood there. I waved at him as he unlocked the gate to let me inside, saying, "Jasmine's in her room with James."

"Thanks, Simon." I thanked him as I passed by him and went up the stairs to Jasmine's room. I knocked twice before opening the door. Jasmine was on her bed with music playing from her phone and James was sitting on the floor with his back to the bed, his legs were folded beneath him and an open physics book sat in his lap.

"Hey," I greeted, shutting the door behind me and placing my bag on the floor.

"Hey." James said, not looking up from the book in his lap.

"What's up?" Jasmine said, looking up from the book she was reading and smiling at me, the dimple in her right cheek showing.

"Nothing much but I'm sleeping over." I said, walking to Jasmine's bed and falling back on it with a loud sigh.

"Your mom let you sleep over?" Jasmine asked.

"Yeah, on the condition, that we actually study and finish our homework and that I return by tomorrow morning."

"You're going to go after she's gone to work, aren't you?" Jasmine asked, even though she already knew the answer.

"Yeah." I said, taking Jasmine's phone and unlocking it before going to music and scrolling through. Selecting one of their favorite songs, I asked Jasmine, "I came with most of my books so what are we studying first?"

Pointing to the male on the floor, Jasmine said, "He's doing his Physics homework and I'm on my Biology homework."

I nodded my head; I stood up and went for my bag that was near the door. Walking back to the bed, I sat down and unzipped the bag, throwing the clothes I carried for the night on Jasmine's bed, I removed my Chemistry and Mathematics books before placing them on the bed and moving to sit with my back pressed to the wall.

They sat in silence for a while; the only sound was the rustling of papers when they flipped to the next page and the music playing from Jasmine's phone. Suddenly James stood up stretching, he said, "I'm hungry."

Jasmine looked up at him, when he sat down one would assume James was of average height till he stood up and then he easily towered over most people. "There should be enough food for the three of us in the fridge."

James nodded his head and left the room, heading downstairs to get them food. I looked up from my Mathematics homework at Jasmine, "He still hasn't asked?"

Jasmine shook her head. The relationship between Jasmine and James was strange. They weren't a couple but they acted as though they were. I had told Jasmine on multiple occasions that they were practically dating except it wasn't really official.

I sighed and decided to drop the topic. "Are you almost done?"

Jasmine nodded her head, pointing at her Chemistry book, she said, "Yeah, only a few questions from Chemistry left."

I was about to speak when I was cut off by the door opening and James walking in holding a large box of pizza with three bottles of water on the top balancing precariously.

James placed the box of pizza and water bottles on Jasmine's bed then passed two bottles to me and Jasmine, leaving his bottle next to the pizza box. He opened the pizza and the smell of meat, bread and cheese wafted in the air making both girls breathe in deeply. Exhaling a sigh of contentment both girls turned to look at each other before bursting into a fit of giggles.

I bookmarked my page with my pencil and kept my books aside, stretching out my hand, I took a slice of pizza and brought it to my lips, opening my mouth, I took a bite of the pizza, loving when the cheese stretched out when I pulled my hand away. Jasmine followed in her example and took a piece, biting into it; she closed her eyes and savored the taste of meat and soft bread.

They spent some time eating and talking. When the pizza had ended and the water bottles had been drained, they went back to their homework and finished them in under an hour. They then decided to go downstairs to watch a movie and fell asleep on the couch with the television showing some science fiction movie.

When I woke up, I checked the time on the clock placed above the television. It read, 2:43. I rubbed my eyes and turned to Jasmine and James who had cuddled on the couch and had fallen asleep in that position. Deciding not to wake them up, I went upstairs and grabbed a blanket, going back down and covering the two before heading back upstairs to change and go to sleep.

A few hours later, I woke up to go to the bathroom after finishing my business, I exited the bathroom and went downstairs to find Jasmine and James still asleep in the same position I had left them in. Looking at the clock the time read 7:50 am it was still early, my mother wouldn't be gone for at least another hour. Walking silently into the kitchen, I opened the fridge and took out a few eggs and a loaf of bread and begun making breakfast.

The duo sleeping on the couch woke up to the smell of fried eggs and toasted bread. They stood up and stretched before heading to the kitchen for some breakfast.

Jasmine yawned widely before asking me where her brother had gone to.

"He left a note saying he had things to do and left earlier." I replied, placing a plate with a few slices of toasted bread and fried eggs in front of the two.

I placed all the dirty dishes in the sink before turning back to the two. "I'm going to take a shower and then head back home, okay?"

They both nodded their heads and continued eating as I left the kitchen, heading upstairs to take a shower. When I came back down with my bag slung over my shoulder, I said goodbye to the two before exiting the house and walking back home.

The walk back home was silent. It was silent but not eerily silent as though there was a creature lurking in the shadows, which required everyone to be inside and silent for their own safety. No, it was silent in a rather peaceful way and calming way. I had decided to take a longer route back home to enjoy the silence when I passed by someone who looked familiar.

I stopped and turned to look at the familiar face only to remember where I had seen him. It was the boy from the park. He was standing on the other side of the road with his hands in large, brown jacket pockets, his head facing the ground when suddenly he looked up and directly at me.
