Chapter 12 Lair of the Phoenix

The Phoenix king chuckled knowing that he had Mamoru wrapped around his finger ."The Quest is that you save" his face drowned in sadness as he continued "m-my daughter" he said now in a full sob. "sh-she was taken by the Phoenix." Maddison still being kindhearted told him 

"We will do whatever we can to save her, where is she?" The king replied wiping the tears from his eyes 

"In the lair of the Phoenix, in a volcano not too far from here".

 "Wait" Mamoru said "isn't this mountain where the phoenix lives?",

 "No." answered the king " This was the safest yet closest place to the volcano, I will send my top assassin to accompany you there." The king gestured towards a young man with a red cloth around his head.

 "Hello," he said greeting us "my name is Ryu, how do you do." he said with a bow. "well then shall we get started"

They all set out a little later headed for the volcano but night was settling in. "It's getting dark we should really camp here" said Ryu "we need our strength and we still have a long way to go."

"He's right" Maddison agreed "even if we did find them we'd be in no condition to fight let's camp."

"Okay, okay we'll camp we're close to the hot springs anyway" said Mamoru. As they set up camp Mamoru was watching Maddison and couldn't shake the feeling that something was going to happen but what? Maddison looked back at Mamoru and smiled, she wondered about his feelings toward her; she had already shown her love for him (when she kissed him) but he hasn't shown his love for her. Mamoru also didn't trust this assassin, he and Maddison busted in, killed his best warriors and he sends an Assassin, that seemed a little bit suspicious; Maddison seemed to trust this assassin so if she could trust him, so could he. That night Mamoru couldn't sleep he stayed up watching Maddison, captivated by her beauty and checking now and then on Ryu, as he faded off to sleep.

The next morning Mamoru woke up by the birds singing their morning song, he looked over at Maddison but only to see that she was gone. He jumped up and looked around trying to find her, then he heard someone near the hot springs he sprinted over using his ninja stealth to conceal his presence. he saw a figure in the mist, he hid as he prowled up to the figure as he got closer it took more shape.once he was close enough he pounced, he grabbed it's wrists. Then realized that it was a girl, a familiar girl, it was Maddison, her face was bright red and her eyes widened with embarrassment. Mamoru wondered why she was embarrassed then he looked - down ... she - was naked. His face went bright red and his eyes too widened with embarrassment he put his hand over his eyes and Maddison ran and covered herself with a towel and yelled in embarrassment "Can't anyone take a bath anymore!"

 once she put on her clothes they headed back to camp. Ryu came to them with wet red hair and a towel"Well where were you two at." Ryu asked and both Mamoru's and Maddison's faces turned red as they turned away from each other, "Probably shouldn't of asked, huh?" he said embarrassed also. "Anyway," Ryu said as "we need to get going, we have a full day ahead of us!" 

"AGREED!" both Mamoru and Maddison yelled in agreement. When they left they started up the volcano and into its mouth and the Lair of the Phoenix!
