/Last Christmas, I gave you my heart. But the very next day, you gave it away. This year, to save me from tears - I'll give it to someone special. Once bitten, twice shy - I keep my distance, but you still catch my eye. Tell me baby, do you recognize me? Well, it's been a year - it doesn't surprise me. Merry Christmas, I wrapped it up and sent it - with a note saying 'I love you', I meant it. Now I know what a fool I've been, but if you kiss me now I know you'll fool me again/ ~ Multiple Artists {Last Christmas}
Delilah's Perspective
"I swear these Santa's are freaking scary." Jackson whined sipping at his coffee. I gave him a lopsided glance, looking around at what he was referring to.
"They aren't scary," I replied. He looked at me with wide eyes glancing at the Santa's over my shoulder.
"Sure they are. With their fake rosy cheeks, big, white beards - anybody could dress up as Santa and abduct a kid." Jack argued. I rolled my eyes at his stupid argument, even though it was possible.
"And there you go ruining Santa Claus for me." I muttered finishing off my doughnut. "Although you have a point. It's highly likely. But, then again, that's just us thinking like Agents. Not normal people."
We reached an escalator full of people. We crammed onto one step, watching people slowly get off on this one, and take a ride up on the one beside us. Jackson scrunched up his face at my previous remark, quickly taking a sip of his coffee before continuing in our conversation. "We're normal."
I snorted, amused with that statement. "Normal people don't study offenders." I argued, getting off the escalator and throwing the paper bag into the nearest garbage can.
Jack shrugged his shoulders and plunged his hands into the front pockets of his jeans. "Where are we supposed to meet your sister?"
I asked, falling into gait beside him. "She told me she'd be in 'Bath and Body Works', so, I guess we go there...?" I shrugged my shoulders and begun to navigate my way around the lower level in the mall towards the store.
"Kay, I know this sounds weird - but I've lived here for pretty much my entire life...and I still have no freaking clue where 'Bath and Body Works' is."
I turned around shooting him a smirk. "That's cause you aren't a girl." I paused. "Well, in most ways."
He nodded, not understanding my insult immediately. I giggled when his jaw dropped and he glared at me, putting on the best puppy face he could muster. "No but seriously," I began and continued with: "the best way to find this store is just to follow the strong smell of different scents mixed together with the name Candy Cane Dream on it - even though it smells nothing like candy canes - and boom! You've found 'Bath and Body Works'." He looked as though he was actually considering it.
Shaking my head I walked a few more feet before turning to Jackson my arms up in the air. "Here we are," I told him.
He joined me and looked inside. "Great. No where's my -"
Bang. We turned our heads into the store to hear loud, sudden cheers and chants. Jack and I looked at each other, shrugged our shoulders, and headed inside. Joining the huge crowd my jaw dropped at the sight.
Kristen was on the shoulders of another woman who was way more muscular and bigger than her. The woman was spinning around, but Kris had a good grip on the other woman. I saw her hand try to reach for her shopping bag which the other lady had. That's when I heard a familiar voice. "I told you!" Someone shouted. I looked towards the woman screaming and saw Lily standing there with her arms crossed and a satisfied look on her face.
"Get off me you little bitch!" The woman grunted, desperately trying to claw at Kristen who was still on her back.
"Give me back my bag!" She yelled back, scratching the woman with her nails. Kristen's blonde hair was beginning to get all frizzy, and her eyes were practically shooting daggers at her opponent.
"I found her." I replied quietly. Jackson was standing beside me, his jaw falling. He nodded slowly, both of us were stunned at the sight. But hey, everyone was betting money. So, I pulled out my fifty and thought I'd join in on the fun.
Jackson's Perspective
"I can't leave you alone for five minutes! Five. Minutes!" I told Kristen who was rubbing her arm. She had lifted up her sleeve and saw a purple-ish bruise begin to form. She pulled the sleeve back down, walking slowly beside me. Lily and Delilah hung behind us, counting out the money Delilah had earned from bidding on Kristen.
"I wasn't technically alone, I was with Lily." Kris added. I turned my head to see Lily give me a stupid smirk. I shook my head, rolling my eyes shrinking into my jacket. Kristen punched me in the shoulder playfully, smiling at me.
"Aw, chill out, Jacky," she replied, and I instantly shot her a glare. She chuckled and pulled out her phone doing whatever Kristen Walker does on her phone.
"Jacky?!" Lily and Delilah asked in unison. I pouted after hearing their obnoxious laughter. I turned to them pretending to smile.
"Yeah, yeah - really funny." I sighed and scuffed my shoes along the ground. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Kristen give me a sympathetic look. "I thought you said you'd never call me that."
She shrugged her shoulders and made an "eh" sound. "Thought I'd spice things up a bit," she added. I smiled slightly, as the two of us began to bump into each other. Then - just like all the other times we did this - it got out of hand and we were full on body-checking each other back and forth trying not to hit any innocent bystanders. Because let's be honest...no one wants to send a crippling, old guy to the hospital for accidentally sending him into a store window.
Kristen stood in front of me, both of us avoiding each other's fists. Lily and Delilah shook each other's head and continued on. One of the many things I hated about having a shorter sister was that she was short enough to go beneath my arms, and avoid getting hit - while I couldn't as she would jump on my back and pound her fists into either my chest, shoulders or back. Whatever she feels like.
That's when our phone's made a dinging sound. We stopped. I reached into my coat pocket, while she reached into her purse and pulled out her phone with the 'Cheshire Cat' case. I opened up my texts and saw a recent one from Joan.
I read it, turned my phone off and slipped it back in my pocket. "We gotta' do Christmas shopping another day - we have a case." I said, walking backward. Heading the way Delilah came. Lily and Delilah must've gotten one as well because the four of us walked out of the mall like we were a part of the whole 'Mission: Impossible' crew.
