/I really can't stay. {Baby, it's cold outside} I've got to go away. {Baby, it's cold outside} This evening has been, {been hoping that you'd drop in} so very nice. {I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice} My mother will start to worry. {Beautiful, what's your hurry?} My father will be pacing the floor. {Listen to the fireplace roar} So really I'd better scurry. {Beautiful, please don't hurry} But maybe just a half a drink more. {Put some records on while I pour}/ ~ Idina Menzel and Michael Buble {Baby, It's Cold Outside}
Lily's Perspective
"So, your telling us you were just...vandalizing the castle?" The kid nodded, looking me dead in the eyes. I sighed and looked to my right to see Landon who wasn't even paying attention. Just looking around the room, playing with the sleeves of his shirt.
I rolled my eyes and groaned. Landon did absolutely - shit. He didn't want to help me interrogate this kid, without him being the main interrogator.
It was annoying. I didn't understand why he had to be with me right now, or anyone for that matter. Landon had offered to help Kris out, but after over-hearing that I decided to offer taking him under my wing for a bit.....
I didn't think he'd actually consider it. Let alone say yes.
I sighed and looked back at the scrawny kid. "Thank you for your time," I added, getting up out of the seat and ushering Landon out of the room with me.
"Let me interrogate him. Watch, I'll be able to get something out of him." He said the second I closed the door.
I groaned quietly and in my head, I was bashing his head into the wall multiple times. But, coming back to reality I gave my falsest smile and walked away. "Sorry, Landon. You just aren't there yet," I added, flipping my hair, sauntering off to the bullpen.
Owen's Perspective
Opening the door, I smiled at seeing the inside of the familiar office. "Hey, Ryder." The chair spun around and Joan squealed. Getting up, she wrapped her arms around my body and squeezed me.
"Sit, sit, sit." She pulled out an extra chair on wheels and brought it beside her. I took the seat and watched her close out of her servers before looking over at me. "We didn't get a chance to talk before you left," she said. "So...what's up?"
I felt my smile slowly fade as I sat back in the chair and looked at the ground. "Owen, sweetie, what happened?"
I sighed and looked up at her.
Someone was going to find out at some point, right?
"Caitlin and I, we..." the words were hard to form. Even though I left her, it was still hard to deal with the fact. Mainly because I just put the pain off and focused on other things for a year. "We broke up."
Joan replied with, "oh," and turned her head back to her computer screen. "I'm sorry."
I shrugged my shoulders and leaned over. "How's...Kris holdin' up?"
Joan became happier and clasped her hands together. "Oh, she's great. You know, with Landon and all and..." her voice faded out after Landon was brought up. "Aw, sweetie - I-I didn't know...that you," she didn't finish.
Defensively, I shot back up and looked at her. "That I what?"
Joan gave me a confused look. "You liked Kristen," she said.
I made a "pft" sound and played it off. "N-no I don't. I mean, sure as a friend but that's just-"
"No, it wasn't." Joan added truthfully. My jaw was caught open, and although words, sentences and excuses formed in my head - they never left my mouth.
