We got to their house after about a twenty minute drive and were led out of the van. They unlocked the door and sat us down on the couch. I could tell Tiffany was nervous. "Tiffany," I whispered to her, "you've been here before. Why are you so nervous?"
I could see tears forming in her eyes. She flipped her hair back to show me more of her neck. There were bruises on it. That was why she was always wearing hoodies. Tears started forming in my eyes too. I hoped something like this would never happen to her. "Dave, the guy with the knife, did it just a couple of days ago. He always has that guy Eric with him. They sometimes sneak into my house late at night. I lock everything, but somehow they still find a way in. He's the one who holds me down while Dave beats me. Sometimes Dave will tie me up if Eric isn't around. He even covers my mouth although I see no point in it. Maybe he's more afraid of someone finding out when he's alone. Anyway he told me not to tell anyone. I guess it doesn't matter now since we probably won't make it out of this place."
"Tiffany, don't say that. I promise you, we will find a way out. Besides Dave and that other guy just left the room. They won't know that you told me. When we get out of here, I want you to come live with me. I want to keep you safe. I love you." I hoped we would find a way out. I never liked breaking my promises. "Tiffany, why did you stay with Dave if he was doing this to you?"
She started forming tears again. I wanted to wipe them away so badly, but my hands were still cuffed. I kissed her where the tears were instead. "He started doing this to me after you and I got together."
"You could've told me sooner." Her phone started ringing.
"Why didn't I turn that darn thing off?" She started crying harder.
Dave walked in the room and took the phone out of Tiffany's pocket. "I'll be keeping this." He said and walked away. Tiffany almost seemed relieved.
"What?" I asked.
"Usually he would harm me in some way." I wanted to hug her. She'd been through so much. Those stupid handcuffs were keeping me from doing anything. She needed comfort. I decided to just scoot closer to her and try to give her a hug without using my arms.
Dave and Eric came back a few minutes later and led us into a room with only one small window. They took the handcuffs off and locked us in there. "Tiffany," I said, "I'm so sorry. I didn't know Dave was doing these things to you. Heck, I didn't even know who he was until now."
"I know you went through pain as a kid, and I'm really sorry. I know you don't want the same thing to happen to me."
Dave came back in. "Tiffany, I forgot. I need you to come with me." She looked back at me with tears in her eyes. I hoped Dave wouldn't hurt her.
Tiffany's P.O.V.
Dave took me out of the room and slapped me across the face. I didn't dare scream. If I screamed, he would've hurt me more. "Why did your cell phone go off?" He asked me.
"Dave, it's just something that happens. Please try to understand." He pulled my hair and pushed me to the ground and held me down with his foot.
He scoffed, "You and your lame excuses." I needed to get out of there. I couldn't though. I knew him too well. It was hard to get past him. I almost screamed, but he covered my mouth. "Keep your mouth shut, okay? I don't need your boyfriend knowing I do more than just punch you a couple times." He covered my mouth with a handkerchief then grabbed both my wrists and held them behind my back tightly. He led me outside to the barn and lifted my arms up to chain my wrists. The chains were so high, my feet lifted off the ground, and I was Dave's height. He took the handkerchief off. "I really don't understand you sometimes." I said.
"I know you don't, babe. That's the fun of it." He crashed his lips against mine and held on to me tightly. He took his lips away. "You're so hot, babe." He said before placing his lips back on mine. He forced my legs to wrap around his torso. He placed his hands under my shirt as he began caressing my back. He bit down on my lip. I started to breathe heavily. "I love it when you do that." He placed the handkerchief back over my mouth. He then started to kiss my neck down to my collarbone. I closed my eyes wishing for it to end. He pulled away making eye contact with me. "Now this is where all the fun begins because this is no fun without a little pain, right?" He chuckled. My eyes widened. I tried to get my wrists free, but the chains ended up digging into my wrists when I did. I grimaced while Dave just laughed. I glared at him. I kicked him in the rib cage. He fell to the ground then started army crawling over to me. He grabbed my ankles and started pulling down. "Baby, you know I hate punishing you. Let's not allow that to happen again, all right?" I tried to answer his question through the handkerchief while crying. "Don't worry." He said caressing my face. "This will all be over soon." He went behind me and kicked me in the back causing my body to swing forcing the chains to dig into my skin. I screamed through the handkerchief. He started laughing. "This is fun, isn't it?" He chuckled. "Baby, don't get too excited. The fun is just beginning." I tried to shake the handkerchief off my face, but it didn't work. "Are you trying to talk, honey? I guess I can allow that." He yanked the handkerchief down so it was around my neck.
"My arms are starting to grow tired."
"I need you weak. It allows me to do more." He grabbed the handkerchief and started lifting it back up.
"Wait, Dave!" He didn't listen, and the handkerchief was back over my mouth. Tears fell out of my eyes, and he just smiled.
"Be back in a bit, babe." He said leaving me there all alone. "Oh before I do, here's your phone." He placed it on a haystack and left. It went off five minutes after Dave left. I tried to get down, but it was too painful. I tried screaming at the top of my lungs hoping someone walking by might hear me. Dave came back in. "Oh would you look at that? Your phone's going off, and you can't answer it. I wonder how helpless you must feel right now." He walked over to the phone. "It says 'Taylor' is calling."
"Hello! Who is this?" "I believe you've got the wrong number. I don't know anyone by the name of Tiffany." "All right. Take care! Goodbye now." He clicked it off. "Now where were we?" I started crying and shaking. He took the handkerchief off. "How could you do this to my friends and family?" I said as soon as I could speak clearly again. "You're not just doing this to me but to my family and Michael's family and all our friends as well. What made you think this was such a good idea?"
"Honey, as long as they don't know anything, I'm not harming them in any way."
"They must at least be worried."
"I'm sure they are, but that's not my problem." He lifted the handkerchief back over my mouth. He abused me with his hands and feet for twenty more minutes then let me out of the chains. He tied my wrists and ankles and carried me back into the house.
Once we reached my door, he took off the handkerchief quickly. "Remember don't tell Michael anything." Dave pushed me back into that room then slammed the door. I fell into Michael's arms, and he held me tightly. I cried saying, "I missed you so much!"
"What happened?" He asked untying my wrists and stroking my hair.
"He- he told me not to-"
He cut me off and held my face, "Tiffany, you need to tell me." He had a horrified look on his face.
"He pulled my hair an-and pushed me to the ground," I gulped, "and he-" I paused.
"It's okay. Don't tell me anymore."
Michael's P.O.V.
"Tiffany, has he ever..." I couldn't finish my sentence, but I think she knew what I meant.
"No," she said, "I think he's waiting for the right moment." She cried into my shirt until it was wet. I hated seeing her in so much pain. I held her tightly until she stopped, then I wiped her tears away.
