Chapter 7

I crawled back into Michael's arms that night. He told me he would protect me all night long. "I love you, Tiffany." He said kissing my forehead.

"I love you, too, Michael." I said just before shutting my eyes.

I woke up and felt Dave trying to pull me out of the room. I guessed Michael felt it, too, because he tightened his hold on me. I tightened mine on him, too. "Let go of him." Dave whispered in a harsh tone. I kept holding Michael though. Dave let go of me and crawled over to Michael's side. I let go of Michael. "That's a good girl. Now to get Michael to release his grip on you without waking him up. Perhaps you should whisper in his ear to let go of you because you're all right, or I'll hurt him." I gulped and did as told. I think Michael knew what was going on because he tightened his grip once more. Dave went back over to Michael's side.

"No, Dave, please." I said. "Michael, baby, please, wake up." I shook him a little too. His eyes shot open.

"Tiffany, are you all right?" Michael asked.

I shook my head and looked in Dave's direction. Michael saw where my eyes had gone and quickly got up. I did so as well. Michael and I held each other's hands super tight. Dave tried his best to knock out Michael, but Michael was somehow able to block almost all of Dave's blows.

Dave grabbed me holding a knife to my neck. "Michael, if you don't want your girl to die, you'll stand completely still until she's back in this room." Michael stopped fighting, and Dave took me out of the room. He banged me against the wall. I screeched in pain.

"Tiffany!" Michael screamed from the other room.

"She's perfectly fine, Michael!" Dave shouted back.

     "No, she's not!"

"Keep quiet, Tiffany, or I'll make this extremely uncomfortable for you." Dave whispered evily. He tied my hands and ankles. He then put duct tape over my mouth. He opened the back door and took me into the cold November air. I was shivering because I only had on a T-shirt and a pair of jeans. He threw me down on the concrete. My whole body stung by that point. He got down next to me and kept my arms on the ground with his fists. "I'm going to kiss your lips good night, then I'm going to leave you out here." He took the duct tape off my mouth and kissed me. It was awful. I tried to scream, but I couldn't through his lips. He pulled away. I tried to struggle out of the ropes, so I could kick him and possibly escape. "Where's Michael when you need him?" That snide remark really ticked me off.

Before he put the duct tape back over my mouth, I said, "It's not his fault. It's yours. Don't blame other people for your mistakes."

"You're defending him now, are you?" Dave put the duct tape back over my mouth. He took me to a shed and turned on the air conditioning, so it was even colder. I was shivering like crazy. "Good night!" He yelled kicking my stomach. I knew I was crying. He shut the door, then I was completely alone in a cold, dark shed. I wanted to be back home by a fire wrapped in a warm, cozy blanket listening to soft music while drinking hot chocolate. I tried to scream and get the ropes off, but it was no use. I was extremely weak. I kept trying though until Dave came back a few minutes later carrying a huge pack of something. He dumped the contents over my body. It was ice. He started beating it down on me covering my face with it. I started hyperventilating because I couldn't breathe. I could hear Dave chuckling. I tried to scream. I was too late though. I was so cold that I could barely even speak, plus I had duct tape over my mouth. After Dave left, I tried to roll out of the ice. I tried to kick off the ropes bounding my ankles. I got them off. I tried to stand up, but the cold made it difficult. I kept trying though. I couldn't let myself die there.

Michael's P.O.V.

I looked out the tiny window and saw Dave throwing Tiffany into a shed. I tried breaking down the door that held me in that house. It took about five minutes before it finally unlatched. I ran outside. Dave was gone. I ran over to the shed. I undid the latch and opened the door. I turned on a light and saw a bunch of ice. Then I saw Tiffany stand up from under there. I ran over to her before she could possibly fall back down. I picked her up and placed her away from the ice. I noticed the air conditioning was running too, so I turned it off. "Tiffany, how could he do this?" I asked taking the duct tape off her mouth and untying her.

I heard the shed door closing. I ran to it, hoping I could somehow keep it from locking us in there. It closed and latched just before I could make it, then I heard Dave's voice saying, "Good night, you two." I tried knocking down that door after I heard the back door to that hostage home close. It wouldn't budge, but I kept trying.

"Michael, look at you." Tiffany said, "You're starting to bruise up a little. Just give it a rest, okay?"

"Tiffany, we could make it out of here." I said.

"Michael, you're clearly tired. Try this some other time. Please?"

I felt she was right. I walked back over to her. I put my coat and my arm around her. "You must be freezing," I said.

"Yeah." She said then put her head on my chest. "You're so warm."

"Let's get some sleep." I said.

"All right, Michael." She said lying down. I lied down next to her and put my arms around her.

"Good night, baby." I said kissing her forehead.

"Good night, Michael. Thanks for coming back for me."

     "Of course! Anything for you."

     "I love you."

     "I love you more."
