the call // reed deming

chapter 14

-Reed's POV-

I still have no idea why Celine suddenly cares about my feelings...I was walking out of school when I suddenly heard someone shout,
"AYE REED WAIT UP" 
I then stopped myself from walking and turned around. I saw my friend Zach come running towards me.
"H-hey Reed." he breathed out, clearly he was out of breath
"Hey What's up man?" I asked.
"There's a new years eve party happening tonight. Wanna go? It's at Nathan's place." he asked.
Nathan is our best friend who likes parties. I thought about it for a sec.
"Sure I guess" I said.
"Cool. It starts at 9. But Nathan wants help setting up so be there 8:30." he said.
I then nodded my head and continued to walk home. 
Once I got to the front of the house I got a text.
'yo i forgot 2 tell u but da party is a masquerade party so u hav 2 wear a mask' 
the text read. It was from Zach. Meaning? I had to find a mask. And quick. I then went inside and threw my backpack in and left to the mall. Surprisingly there was a mask store at the mall. Not weird at all...
"Uhh excuse me do you have any masks for a masquerade?" I asked the person at the counter
They pointed to a random shelf which I'm guessing has the masks. Since I was in a hurry I picked the first mask I saw and paid for it. I checked the time. 7:30 already?! Holy. I went home and changed then ran to Nathan's house.
"Aye man you're late by 10 minutes" Nathan said when he opened.
"Yea yea whatever do you want help or not?" I snapped back.
He then put his hands up in defense.
After we were done decorating people then started flooding in. I didn't know Nathan knew this many people. 
Before I knew it I heard people starting to count down all around me 
"10!"
"9!"
"8!"
"7!"
"6!"
"5!"
"4!"
"3!"
"2!"
"1!"
I grabbed the first person I saw, spun them around and kissed them on the lips. Please not be a guy please do not tell me I am kissing a guy because talk about awkward. I then opened my eyes. Mine then met with a pair of dark brown eyes staring at me. Probably in complete shock. After we were staring at each other I then ran. I ran out of the house and onto my way to mine. What just happened?
