The Sickness

It was the morning after the campfire incident. During the night, Lizzie and I had shifted. When I woke up, I was leaning back against the tree, and Lizzie was sitting between my legs, leaning back against me, zipped up in my hoodie. I had my arms wrapped around her waist and I pulled her closer to me.

I leaned forward and gently kissed her cheek, being careful not to wake her.

I smiled, knowing that I had fallen asleep with Alyssa Marianne Waddell, practically on my lap.

She shifted slightly in her sleep. I thought she was waking up but luckily she wasn't. Now I just have to hope Laine doesn't get up for a while.....

"Hey guys, are you ok? You didn't come back to the- OH MY GOD!" Spoke too soon.....

Laine's squeaks woke up Lizzie. She looked a little dazed but she always does when she wakes up.

"What's going on?" She murmured. "I'm only having a fan girl moment, I mean, come on, I've shipped Marka for years, I'm aloud to scream when I see them cuddled up together." Laine squealed.

"Marka? Where the hell did that come from?" She asked. "Well, I couldn't think of a ship name using your first name so I used your middle name." Laine explained.

"You fangirl way too much.... luke unzip the hoodie please, I'm going to start breakfast." Lizzie yawned.

"Oh, I'll do it! You two stay there, like that, it's not even 6 am yet mind." Laine reminded us. She was mainly trying this for my sake.

"No thanks Laine, I don't fancy getting food poisoning!" Lizzie said half joking.

I let her out of my hoodie and watched as she set up the cooker, and put bacon on.

Laine sat down beside me.

"Sorry Luke, I really thought that would work.... asked her out yet?" Laine asked me.

"Nah, going to ask her on the bus later on the way grans, I know it's not very romantic but you know, she won't care. I mean, would you?" I asked. I turned to look at Laine. "Uh, yeah, kinda would. But you and I both know that she's not like me in that way." Laine stated.

"I know...." I sighed dreamily.

I talked with Laine for a while till Lizzie shouted on us. "BREAKFAST IS READY!".

We sat around the cooker, eating bacon rolls. Afterwards, we took it in turns to go up the treehouse and change.

When Lizzie went up, I started day dreaming....

"I love you so much Lizzie, more than you'll ever know." Lizzie and I were sitting on a bench, staring at the ocean. My arm was draped around her shoulders, pulling her closer to me. Her hand was placed on my chest, and her head was rested in my shoulder.

"I know Luke, and I love you too, I just wish you didn't have to go...." a tear rolled down her cheek as she spoke.

No matter what I'm day dreaming about, it always comes back to this. Leaving. She knows I'll have to go, but that doesn't make it any easier for either of us.

Since I had my clothes in my pack, I quickly changed behind a bush.

Afterwards, Lizzie came back and Laine went to change and get her stuff.

"Hey, Luke?" Lizzie sat beside me against a tree. "What's up?" I asked.

"I've just been wondering..... what's it going to be like when you leave? For us I mean, Laine, Levi and Sally." She asked.
