I’m going to kill her I think to myself as I sit down at a table for two, a few meters away from my previous table obviously still close enough for the women to eavesdrop. I sigh and drop myself down into the plumped chair and begin to fiddle with the napkin. I wasn’t good with talking with guys especially not God type ones. I smile sweetly at him, it’s forced obviously and I can see he knows it well. The waiter comes over thankfully to save us from the awkward silence but as I look up at the waiter, I groan to myself as I see it’s the bartender who is a jerk. But then I realise I’m with the guy he thought I couldn’t get, sitting up straight I put on a full smile for sexy Benjamin.

“What can I get you two?” He asks finally looking up from his notepad, his eyes land on me “Gin and tonic, right?” I glare at him for his assumption even if it was right.

“Do you guys know each other?” Benjamin speaks up for the first time while being alone. I begin to open my mouth but quickly shut it as I’m interrupted.

“You could say that, I would watch her on them cocktails if I were you. Regular in here, surprised she isn’t banned from her behaviour but then again her wealth most probably stops them.” I stare at this dick and feel my hands reaching out to his neck.

“Wha-“He rudely cuts me off again.

“And what will it be for you Sir?”

“Whisky.” The dick walks off and I watch him as he goes.

“Dick” I mutter under my breath.

“You shouldn’t be mad at him Allison, he was only warning me for your best interests.” I stare at Benjamin and wish his God damn eyes weren’t so fucking perfect as right about now I felt like punching one.

“I don’t even know him, I don’t even come here.” I puff out, how could I be a regular when my college was two hundred miles away?  “I’m always at college.” I say as I see he is doubtful, but who cares I didn’t care what he thought about me.

“There’s no need to explain, I believe you.”

“You do?” I kick myself for my voice sounding so surprised.

“I do. So Allison what do you do in college?”

The conversation runs smoothly throughout the whole evening and I even enjoy myself a little; okay I enjoyed myself a lot, more than a lot. I was meeting up with him this coming Saturday and I couldn’t wait. I sing on the way home to my dirty dancing album and pull up into my father’s suburban house. Walking into the living room I can tell a game has been on, due to the amount of beer cans left on the table. I go back out and open the garage where I knew he would be, fixing up the black fastback mustang.

“How was it?” He’s mocking me.

“The usual, but guess what? She actually had the nerve to set me up on a blind date!” My father quickly lifts his head up from the bonnet but hits his head as he does.

“She did what?” He was angry? I was angry! But then again everything had gone nicely, so maybe it wasn’t that bad after all.

“No need to worry dad, he was actually really nice.” I smile at him and he squints his eyes in the little way that he does. “I promise.” He stops the interrogation and hands me a drill.

“Get to work then.” He says to me, I hop into action helping my father. This was me, not some fancy rich girl. And as I think this I wonder if me and Benjamin would ever truly work.
