When a child is born they are given a necklace that has half of the shape on it and as they grow older if they ever meet a person with the other half of the shape that person is their soulmate.

"Oh yes, it is!" Kiyoko said while running towards her. "I'm Shimizu Kiyoko what's your name?" "O-oh my name is Hitoka Yachi" Yachi's thoughts 'Wow she's so pretty' 'That name really fits her' 'I wonder what her shape is?' 'She looks so pretty when she smiles' Snapping out of her thoughts Yachi asked, "Where is everybody?" Oh, it's still not the time for practice. I always get here earlier to fill up the water bottles and to get the volleyballs" "Do you need any help?" "Only if you want to" "Yes, I would be glad to help" responded Yachi while grabbing some water bottles.
A few minutes later "I'm glad that's done." Kiyoko said as she sat on the flooring. "Y-yea" Yachi's thoughts 'Oh my god even when she's tired she still looks pretty!' "So Yachi I forgot to ask you what's your necklace shape?" "Well mine is a broken heart that's red and says VE" "What's yours?" Kiyoko's thoughts 'Oh my god she has the other half of my shape' 'I can't believe my soulmate is a girl' 'It can't be true' 'I could never fall in love with a girl or marry one' "So Kiyoko what's your shape?" Yachi's voice made Kiyoko snap out of her thoughts. "W-well mine is a broken t-that's red and it says LO." Kiyoko said looking nervous. Yachi's thoughts 'Oh my god, she's my soulmate!' 'What do I do!?' 'This is a miracle!' "So Kiyoko let's see if we put them together if they actually form a heart" Yachi said as she reached for her necklace. "Um sure" Then they both put theirs together and it created a heart that said, LOVE. "No this can't be happening" "I can't fall in love with a girl!" yelled Kiyoko as she stormed out of the room. Yachi stared at her necklace as tears streamed down her face.
