Chapter 5

"Ava will you go out on a date with me?", Jackson asks with his face turning as red as a tomato.

"Uhh. I can't."

"Oh ok" He started walking away.

"Jackson wait!", I yell. "It's not that I don't like you it's that I have a performance tonight at the football game. I am in the color guard and I am preforming with the marching band. I can go out tomorrow though?" I say.

"Oh uhh I can't do it tomorrow i'm busy. Maybe another day. Sorry for wasting your time you can leave now." he says with a very sad expression on his face.

"I'm so sorry Jackson."

"It's OK i'm just going to leave now." he leaves with his head down.

Ugh great now I feel bad.

Later at football game

"Guys guess what happened!" I say to my color guard friends Faith, Autumn, Alice, Carolynn, and Tara. They all just shrug.

"Jackson asked me out today."

"WHAT!", Tara screams at me. "What did you say?"

"I said no because he wanted to go out tonight, but I couldn't because I have the football game. He was really sad about it to."

"Ava!" Alice yelled at me.

"What I had to say no. I didn't have a choice."

"Did you tell him that you are available tomorrow?" Autumn asked.

"Yeah but he said that he was busy. I said that I was so sorry and then he walked away. I hurt me to see him walk away so sad."

"Awww, its OK you'll be together one day." Said Tara

"Ha very funny whatever let's not focus about that right now we need to focus on the performance."
It was nice to have friends that really cared about me.

Tara's POV

"Hey Carolynn isn't that Jackson over there in the stands?" I asked trying not to let Ava hear us.

"Uh yeah it is. Is he here to see Ava?"

"I don't know maybe but I remember Ava saying that he has a friend in the band so he might be here to watch him."

"I don't know, I mean Jackson never comes to the games ever. He's not that kind of person." Carolynn said. Maybe she is right he is here to see Ava.

"We can't tell her though she will freak out and get all nervous knowing he is here." I said.

"You're right she will. This is just between us. Got it?"

"Yep." I say starting to watch the game now, even though I know nothing about football.

End of game at the band hall

"Ugh my parents are taking forever." I complain to Faith.

"Uh Ava is that Jackson over there staring at you?"

I turn around and my eyes make eye contact with the most beautiful brown eyes in the world.

"Ava....AVA!"

"Ahh what?" I hate when people do that.

"Stop drooling over him and go say hi" she says as she proceeds to push me in his direction.

"Hey Jackson what are you doing here? You here to see David?"

"Uh no actually I came to see you."

"Really? That's sweet. I didn't think football games were really your seen though."

"They aren't I just wanted to see you."

"AVA!" I hear my mother call me.

"COMING!"

"Sorry Jackson I got to go. Bye." I wave as I walk off to my parents.
