Chapter 4:
(Kaylee's POV)
I groan. My head stung, and I went to grab it. But right as my hands touched my supposed to be hair, they touched something softer. Bandages. I thought.
"Don' touch it, honey." A familiar voice spoke.
I opened my eyes and saw Casey, Axyn's mother. She took my hand and gently laid it on my thigh. I let a small smile appear on my face. "How did this happen? Was your father drunk?" I nodded. She was the only one that I could speak with that I felt at ease with. Casey's been through so much...she told me about it.
"How'd you get glass in your head? Did he crash it over your head?" I shook my head. I really wish I could explain, but my muteness is not so good with that. "How then?" She passed me some paper and a pencil. I quickly wrote:
My head crashed through the glass on our door.
I showed her and she flinched. "Ouch." I shrugged my shoulders. "I got all the glass out of your head, dear. Cleaned up your wounds, and had a talk with your mother. She really seemed shaken up, but she said you'd be staying here for Christmas." Casey stood up. "Now, don't touch the bands and rest." I scribbled:
I don't wanna take your bed...
"Don't worry, I'll sleep on the couch." She gave a soft smile.
No. I'll take the couch. It's rude to barge into someone's home and just take their bed. I'll take the couch.
"You sure?" She cocked her head a bit, her medium brunette hair falling to that side as well.
I nodded, and slowly got up on my feet. I felt a bit woozy, but what am I to do? Whine and complain? No.
I staggered down the stairs and plopped myself on the couch. A little girl plopped next to me, leaning her head on my shoulder. She had short, bright blonde hair, and from what I saw, purple eyes. I knew this girl. This was Lilac, one of the triplets I loved. Lilac was the quiet one out of the group, Lucy was the prankster, and Lily was the normal one, I guess.
"Kaylee!!" Speaking of the devils, they run over to me and jump on top of me. Lilac speaks. "Be careful Lu and Lil, she's got Band-Aids on her head." Her voice was so adorable! The three of them crawl on top of me and use my body heat to keep them warm. Quickly - too quick, in my opinion - they're asleep upon me.
I pick them up, with much ease, and take them up to their room. Arwyn and Iyn are asleep already, but I put the triplets onto their mattress. This was the girls' room, but the rule was broken for Iyn. They are inseparable, but they're still young. It's not like they're older.
I looked over at them and saw Iyn's arms wrapped around Arwyn, and she was cuddled up against her brother. So cute.
"Goodnight, Kaylee." I turned to see Claire, the eldest born from Casey, in her PJs. The girl had long, silver looking hair. She fell onto her mattress, curling up. I walked out of the room, and heard back downstairs. Might as well play Xbox when I can. All the kids are in bed.
I hooked up the Xbox 360 with ease, and decided to play Minecraft. Yes, they had a TV, I got them a flat screen last year for Christmas. This year, I had much more planned, and enough for it.
It was funny that a world made out of blocks could have so many people hooked. I was one of the many.
I loaded up my rollercoaster world, deciding to build some new ones. I had many; most were named after people I knew. I made one after my father, it was called Abuser. At the end, it would spawn creepers, and blow you up, instantly killing you. I made one for Lilac already, it's main color was purple and called Purple Eyes. The names were horrible, but what else could I do? I didn't want to wake them up.
Oh yeah, I couldn't scream and yell. If I got blown up by a creeper or I fell in lava, or hell, get eaten by a zombie, no sound would be emitted from my mouth.
That was a good thing about being mute.
But the rest are for a later time.
