Chapter Seven

(DON'T PLAY THE SONG YET)
                                    Wednesday, 8:00am
Autumn's POV
I got out of the shower the next morning, got ready and headed out to school. As we were driving Grayson's jaw was clenched.
G: Who is Emily?
A: umm...a girl I used to be friends with a long time ago. She's now the most popular girl in school.
G: Why do you still have her number?
A: What? How did you-
G: JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION.
I could feel myself begin to shake as he yelled. His facial expression changed as he parked and looked at me but quickly look away.

G: Look she just texted you and called you a nobody and I took it as a threat. But I'm just doing my job. Sorry for yelling.
A: I am a nobody Gray. She was just telling the truth.
I took a deep breath and got out of the car as Grayson followed.

School went by fast but I couldn't get what Gray said out of my head. "I took it as a threat" "I'm just doing my job" I thought I was more than just his assignment but I guess not. I'm even a nobody around him.

It was still silent on our way back to the house. I had to change for church so we could meet up with Samantha and Ethan. To be totally honest I'm scared about Grayson coming. Im leading worship and I don't know what he's going to think. But I guess I need to stop caring about what he thinks, after all I'm just his assignment.

Grayson's POV
While I waited for Autumn I decided to change into a dark blue button down shirt and some khakis. I still have this feeling that I can't explain. I've done everything to get it away but no matter how much I tell myself that Autumn is just an assignment, It doesn't change the way I feel. But I'm going to try one more time I won't let myself give in.
(NOW PLAY THE SONG)
As I heard foot steps down the stairs I got my keys and stood by the door. Autumn came down she was wearing a white lacy long-sleeve shirt and a maroon skirt with black leggings and a black coat.(outfit below)She looked absolutely beautiful. It took everything for me not to smile. She smiled.

A: Why are you looking at me like that?
G: oh uh.....you ready?
She gave me a disappointing look and walked out off the house. As she got to the car door i yelled STOP. She just stood there waiting. I walked up and opened it for her.

It was already dark. We got to the restraint and I see Ethan wearing the exact thing I am except his shirt is grey and Samantha in a white dress and a scarf. (Outfit below)

The girls hugged and then we walked to our table.
E: So how's school Gray? (He laughed)
G: Can't say that I miss it.
E: Well I'm sure all the girls love that you're there.
G: All those girls are stuck up....jerks.
S: Ya now you see why Autumn and I are friends.

We started talking about random things but I didn't really say much because I was concentrating on not looking at Autumn. She was like this huge star that was difficult to not look at. We got our food and began to eat. Then the girls went to the restroom while we were waiting for dessert.

E: So I've heard you've been very protective.
G: What are you talking about.
E: Your getting emotionally attached! I could see it ever since the first time you met Autumn.
G: Don't be stupid I'm just doing my job! Autumn is JUST MY ASSIGNMENT.
That hurt so bad to say.
E: No Gray you don't be stupid! (Ethan yelled)I know how dead you are inside, how worthless you feel. I know how you look into a mirror and hate what you see. Yes our lives are hell because we wake up not knowing if we are going to die. But you've changed. I WANT MY BROTHER BACK. And it seems to me like Autumn is doing just that.

Samantha POV.
Autumn and I came out of the restroom and we immediately heard yelling. We walked to our table to see Grayson and Ethan were the ones yelling. "Autumn is just my assignment!" Grayson yelled. I quickly look at Autumn, her eyes feeling with tears.
A: I need some air I'll meet y'all at the church.
She whispered I looked back and saw that Grayson knew she heard him.

I made my way back to the table.
G: I'm done. I've had enough.
He got up and walked out of the restaurant as Autumn did.
S:Dang
E: Don't worry he's not going to let her walk away he's too in love I can see it.
S: Oh just wait till he hears her sing

Grayson's POV
I ran outside to catch Autumn. I can't deny my feelings anymore. I saw her walking on the side walk next to lit up trees.

G:Autumn wait!!
She turned around with tear filled eyes.
A: What Grayson? What did I ever do to make you hate me so much?! I'm sorry I'm a nobody and that you were assigned to me. Who would want me I mean my own father didn't want me-
I cut her off
G: YOU ARE NOT A NOBODY! You're standing here telling me that nobody wants you and that hurts so freaking much you have no idea. I don't know how you could say that when I'm fighting for you everyday right in front of you! Because I care about you......

Tears were starting to run down her face.
A: No you're just doing your job. Nobody-
G: DON'T. Don't say that nobody want you because I want YOU! I will fight for you everyday. I think about you every second of everyday.
A: Than why have you acted like you don't want me?
G: Because I'm scared!
A:Afraid of what?!?
G: IM SCARED OF EVERYTHING! I'M SCARED TO MOVE,IM SCARED TO BREATHE IM SCARED TO TOUCH YOU!

I took a deep breathe and moved closer to her face.
G: I hurt everyone around me. I can't do that to you.
A: So now you're telling me that you don't want to hurt me? Grayson I love you. You won't hurt me!
Tears were streaming down her face as my eyes filled with tears.

G: You don't love me. You love the idea of me. You see the best in people. You don't know what you're getting into. I'm not good for you.
A: THATS A LIE!! You kept going after the worst thing happened. You felt this need to change yourself to survive. You became this... this emotionless negative person. I know happiness and I know love! You know it too but you're too BLIND to see it!.......ya I may be harsh right now but that's called tough love!... DID YOU HEAR ME? Love! LOVE! It's real and it's right in front of you!

The tears started coming down my face.
A: Ya know I smile everyday because I find something to be happy about. Even though my life sucks and going through this week of hell I still have found something to smile about.....(she lowered her voice)...you. Believe it or not but good things happen in life, so let it happen! I love you Grayson and I all I want is for you to smile and be happy!

I looked into her beautiful blue eyes. I grabbed her waist and pushed her closer to me. Our faces inches away. I put my lips on hers. We began to kiss slow but very passionately. I pulled away as we both saw our deep breaths in the cold.
G: I am happy
I smiled and felt her soft lips again. I hugged her tight as I felt her smile through the kiss.
