The trio and their friends sat at breakfast the next morning, a tired aura surrounding the group. Harry made little effort with joining in the half-hearted conversation his friends were having, and instead focused his attention on none other than Draco Malfoy.

He knew it was a terrible idea, but Harry couldn't help how his eyes automatically drifted to the blond Slytherin boy. He wanted to bang his head against the table - anything to stop the stupid infatuation that had seemingly taken over his thoughts, conscious or not. No matter how much he tried, Draco just wouldn't leave him alone. At first, Harry assumed that his fascination was a new concept, but now realised that it had been with him for all his time at Hogwarts. It was always Draco this, Draco that...

"Hey! Post's here!" shouted Ron as he held his hands up high above his head, ready to catch the mail.

"You look like an idiot," remarked Hermione with a slight shake of the head. Although, Harry could see that she was stifling a laugh.

He looked up and sure enough, hundreds of owls were flying above them. Despite witnessing this act countless amounts of times, he couldn't help but admire how amazing they looked in flight. The Great Hall had become a screeching mess, as birds and kids alike struggled to get their parcels.

A snowy owl slowed down a tad as it dropped an envelope on the table, right in front of Harry. For me? he thought to himself.

Wasting no time, Harry ripped off the seal and unfolded the letter. He held it close to his face and read the following:

Dear Mr Potter,

Please make your way to the library at precisely 7 o'clock this evening for your first tutoring lesson with Mr Malfoy. Failing to abide will result in an immediate detention - do not forget.

Kind regards, Headmaster Dumbledore.

Harry should have guessed that Dumbledore would do something like this. Harry quickly looked over at where Draco was sitting, eyes widening as he did so. It was apparent that he had received the same letter, except Draco was much less pleased about it. He was silently seething in his seat, jaw clenched so tightly that Harry thought it would break off in any second. Without another moment's hesitation, Draco scrunched the paper up and shoved it forcefully into his pocket. Miserable git. Harry didn't exactly like the idea of spending three more hours a week with him, but it certainly wasn't something to get so upset over. Especially, when it was three more hours of gazing absentmindedly at him. He vaguely heard Ron say something along the lines of, "Hey, I didn't get any mail."

Before he knew it, it was time for his first lesson. The rest of the day was extremely uneventful, and not one class with Draco, thank god. He didn't want to admit it, but Harry was actually quite scared of Draco. Not necessarily him as a person - he thought him to be narcissistic and a humongous prat - but his overall opinion of Harry. It had never seemed to bother him before, but all of a sudden, there was this strange desire within him to please Draco. To be accepted. And when he had rejected the only offer of friendship that Harry had ever given him, well, it left a Draco shaped hole in his heart.

He didn't even want to know what Draco would do if he knew the way Harry thought about him. Although... Would he like that Harry was paying so much attention to him? Would he be repulsed by it? These were the kind of thoughts that plagued Harry's mind for the entirety of the day. His teachers had to continuously snap him out of his trance, earning him scolding after scolding. Hermione and Ron had some sense to just stay out of it. After all, his male house members had seen him in such a bad state the previous night. There was no doubt that Ron had informed Hermione of it right away. Still, they didn't try to hide the worried glances they sent in Harry's direction every now and again.
