I.
"Now, you know if you two change your mind, I'll race back here from wherever the game is.", mom said in a sad tone and a strained expression. I forced a smile, "We won't change our mind, mom." I said, "Right, Bella?" I asked Bella and she agreed by nodding.
"You might. You've always hated Forks." mom insisted, "It's not about Forks, it's about Dad. I mean, two weeks a year, we barely know each other.", I exclaimed.
"Mom, we want to go. We'll be fine." Bella said. But as mom hug us, our mind is still on doubt, dread and regret. We're still struggling to keep our facade up as we climb into the back seat of car.
While on the road, me and Bella are staring at the window getting a last glimpse of the sparkling malls, chic shoppers, and manicured cactus gardens. We're actually not close, not like other typical siblings that's inseparable. Bella is introvert and quiet, I am actually the opposite version of her. Believe it or not, we barely talk. But for me? Yes, I want to be her closest best friend. But, I think that's not going to be easy as I was thinking. We supposed to be close right? Because we're sisters. But unfortunately, we're not. Weird, isn't it?
Nothing but deep, dark, green forests for miles. Sweep down, finding the eerily dramatic Lake Crescent. Over it all hangs the mist from the ever-present cloudy grey sky. Everything is wet and green and drenched in shade
"Hey, dad! I missed you so much." I ran through Charlie and hugged him tightly, "I missed you too, sweetie." he replied as he hugs me back. Bella's still quiet, she just smiles and nods at Charlie. Bella is indeed a cold person.
"Your hair's longer." Charlie observed, he gazed at me and smirked.
"I cut it since last time I saw you." I looked at him chuckling. "Guess it grew out again." he replied, I just nods and remained silent.
Charlie suddenly glanced at Bella sitting at the back, "Hey, how's it going?" he asked as he looked back at the road and continued driving.
"I'm fine." she simply answered smirking, "Well, good for you." Charlie said, I can feel nor see the awkwardness between them and they obviously can't hide it.
When we got to our house, Charlie helped us to carry our bags loaded with lots of clothes and headed onto our room. "Uhm, so here's your room... I put Grandpa's old desk in your room and cleared some shelves in the bathroom." Charlie explained, "That's right. One bathroom." I replied. He opened our room's door, "Anyway, you two like purple right?", he asked while he roams his eyes around the room. I can see in his face that he's confused and at the same time, problematic.
Me and Bella looked at each other awkwardly because none of us likes the color purple. I just chuckled and Bella looked away, "Yes, dad. It's perfect." I said. "Hmm, okay... I gotta go, I'll just go downstairs." We just nod at Charlie and he left the room quietly that I can almost hear his footsteps as he go down.
An antique rolltop desk sits in a corner. The room is filled with childhood remnants that have seen better days. "What I like about Charlie?" I glanced at Bella, "He doesn't hover." We chuckled, fixing and putting our things onto the cabinet. All of a sudden, we heard a honk outside. I ran across the hall and looked at the window, I am surprised when I saw my dad's pardner, Billy Black and our childhood bestfriend, Jacob. He is just 16, a Quileute Indian, with a long black hair, and hints of childish roundness in his face. "Bella! Billy and Jake is here with Charlie." I exclaimed, glancing at Bella with a rush and excitement.
