III.

"You're really not coming with us, Ellis?" Bella asked while she's been hauled by Jessica and Angela. "Uhm... no." I shook my head, "I'll just wait for you at the car." I added, Bella responded by nodding and they directly headed to cafeteria.

I'm glad Bella managed to overcome her fear of socializing, now she's gaining some friends and I'm so happy for her. They've just met Bella earlier, they're so amazed because our looks is totally identical. I can see that Mike and Eric is also mesmerized and attracted to my sister based on how they treat Bella. They decided to hang out at cafeteria and get something to eat but apparently, I am currently not in the mood for chitchatting. So, instead I went to my car to put my things there and also wait for Bella.

The rain has stopped, but the parking lot is still full of water and patches of black ice.

Shivering, I headed to my car carefully navigating the icy puddles. I opened my bag and searched for the car's key. Uh oh, looks like I misplaced it... I was already pissed because I really can't find the key. I grimaced, I looked across the lot and suddenly saw Edward staring at me, he's standing by his silver Volvo with his siblings, about to climb in. I continued looking for the key and finally found it.

I was about to open the car but abruptly, I heard some screeching tires and looked towards the sound of a high pitched screech that quickly grows louder. I can feel that it's getting closer and closer to me. I turned to see the van and saw Tyler driving an uncontrolled van that's skidding on the ice, careening out of control, heading directly to me.

I don't know but I can't move. I'm stuck staring at approaching van and just watched it come near me. The faces of the students are schocked, seeing what's coming. Tyler's desperately trying to gain control, then shielding his face.

The van is about to hit my car, I am standing in between, I thought that's going to be the end of my life, when suddenly, something knocked me down, pinning me to the ground. I looked up, and Edward is on top of me. The world around us freezes, everything turned into slow motion. Our proximity is overwhelming, electrifying. Abruptly, we blast back to speed as several things happened so quickly, I'm still unsure what's going on. The van smashes into the back of my car then spins around, once again careening toward me and Edward, then suddenly his hands created a deep dent in the side of the van's body as it shudders to a stop, a foot from me. He literally pushed the van away and  stopped it with his bare hands.

A long beat, void of any sound, as I look at Edward, trying to absorb what just happened. Edward's fear for me is still alive on his face. I eyed him with disbelief and tried to speak but he immediately ran away before people came near me.  The screaming begins, all I can hear is my name, asking me if I'm alright and checking me if I'm hurt, yelling and calls for help. Bella, Jessica and Mike run to me.

"What happened? What happened? Did anyone got hurt?", Bella said screaming and muttering. I saw Edward's siblings looking at Edward, but they show no hint of concern for his safety. Instead, looked at him with disapproval and fury. Bella and Mike helped me get up and accompanied me to the hospital.

I'm still starstrucked at the same time astonished on what Edward did. I know what I saw and I can't be wrong. I am just sitting at the gurney and Bella's just sitting beside me. "If I only knew that this would happen, I shouldn't let you go all by yourself..." Bella said with a glumly tone. I gazed at her, "I'm sorry, Ellis." she added, looking down. I can see that her tears are almost coming out of her eyes, "No... Bella, it's not your fault." I held her hands and she looked at me, "Don't blame yourself. What happened was just an accident... no one should be blamed for what happened." I explained, looking at her with pleasing eyes. She hugged me tightly, my eyes widened and I'm SO surprised on what she did. I smiled and hugged her back.
