This is what I want to do

This is what I want to devote my life to

I want to contribute to this so uniquely human thing

It demands so much time,

yet the product lasts no longer 

than it takes for the last note to die

But, oh, this is what I want to do

I want to contribute to this so uniquely human thing 

This chaotic order that music is,

This orderly chaos that music is,

Those brief moments that contrast the overwhelming silence,

The lights, the people, and ultimately the sound

This is what I want to contribute to,

This is what I want to do,

This is where I want to be,

If all the world's a stage,

I want a stage to be my world
