"Neither of you seemed to exchange any words with Yakov during the public practice, is there anything behind that?"

"W-We're fine! We'll just do what we usually do with Victor."

That was the only thing you remembered about the interviews, Yuuri's shaky response ringing in your head. Your thoughts were being plagued by Victor. You never realized how accustomed you'd become to him being with you, but now that he was gone, you felt like you had a hole in your heart.
You saw Yurio leave to see his grandpa, to which you smiled on the inside at how much of a softy he was around his relative.

Shortly after, you and Yuuri made your way out to the rink, stretching the whole way there as well as chatting. Both of you were trying your best to not let the free skate take over your nerves.

"So (Name), you and Victor are an item now, right?" Yuuri inquired, stretching his arms behind him.

"Eh? Ah, yeah, we are, I guess. Y'know, it's funny how we've never had the 'what are we' talk." You muttered out. Yuuri's lips twitched into a small smirk, and you raised an eyebrow in reply.

"He's infatuated with you, (Name). Something tells me that something big's going to happen." He chuckled. Your head was definitely away from the performance now.

'Has Victor told him something?' You pondered. YOU emerged from backstage, the bright lights of the rink shining down on you, and you looked around at the crowd of cheering people with a smile. Your racing mind was calmed, and you smiled widely at the audience.

"Calm down, you're not even up yet." Yurio grumbled. You flinched, spinning around to see the grumpy teen next to you, accompanied by Yakov and Lilia. You snorted in amusement.

"Well, look who decided to talk after all." You said in a sweet voice. You lifted your hand and patted his head.

"You really are going full prima ballerina, aren't you?" You chimed as you patted him, and then twirled a finger through his ponytail.

"Lay off!" Yurio barked. You only giggled as you withdrew your hand, and you had to cover your mouth from full on bellowing with laughter after you saw Mila messing around behind him. You weren't kidding when you said you'd become friends.

"Emil Nekola, age 18, has planned an incredible four quads this program, living up to his theme for this season; "Cyberpunk: I cease to be human." You heard the announcer say. You perked at what had been said.

'Four quads? That's a hard act to follow...' Once again, your nerves were lit aflame, and you transformed back into an anxious mood. Roles were reversed, and Yuuri tried to help you calm down, but he was just as bad as you were.
The next 2 performance couldn't have gone faster.

You gawked at the blonde teen that was collapsed on the ice, choking on his own breath. He performed immaculately, his execution perfect.

You and Yuuri feared for your careers.

You knew Yuuri was up next, and so you stood up from your seat, lending him a hand as he got up as well. You spoke no words, for all you had to do to get your message across was look him in the eye.

'Show them all you've got.'

He delivered...mostly.

You strained a smile as Yuuri stepped off the ice, still panting from the exerting performance. You handed him his water bottle without a word, for you had no idea what to say. His face showed his thoughts quite clearly, and from the years that you've known him, you knew he still wasn't over whatever was keeping him.
Yuuri remained silent even as he walked to the kiss and cry with Yakov. You cringed as you saw Yakov lecture him, even once the score had been revealed. You slowly clapped your hands at the 172.87 score, but you knew it was futile considering the blank look on his face. As he left to the backstage area, you were hit with a pang of reality.
