Zac likes me? Is this a joke? Well guess I need a date, so I might as well.
What? No you hate him remember!
I really don't remember.
Okay fine you don't hate him, you strongly dislike him. But still, you cannot say yes.
My mind was a mess, but after way too long of silence, I looked up at Zac. His eyes were, dare I say it, Hopeful?
What no! Of course they weren't hopeful, he's probably just waiting. That's it! He's waiting for your response because you are taking six thousand years to reply.
Hey, that's an exaggeration.
Whatever.
To this day I cannot tell you why I said the next word that came out of my mouth, but I'm glad I did. A simple three letter word which changed my life so drastically. I would keep going, but I don't want to spoil the whole story for you, now do I?
"Yes."
Zac's eyes grew wide, the size of golf balls, shocked by my answer.
Aww he's so cute when he's surprised.
Stop that, he's not cute.
"Yes?" Zac asked in disbelief.
"Yes."
His eyes light up and he shows me an adorable lopsided grin, the right side of his mouth slightly higher than the left.
HOLD UP! He is not adorable he's a jerk.
I silently scolded myself.
A jerk I'm going to prom with, one way or another, and yes. He is too adorable.
Suddenly I felt his arms go around my waist, and he picked me up off the ground, spinning in a circle. Out of reflex, I grabbed his shoulders. When he set me down I looked away, giggling a little at his reaction. I guess he wasn't joking.
Zachary Mitchell doesn't hate me; he has a crush on me. Has had a crush on me for SIX YEARS.
I let this soak in.
"You have no idea how long I've wanted to hear you say that word."
About six thousand years.
Hey stop that, I didn't take that long to answer.
Zac's light brown eyes were boring into me. They were clouded, like he was trying really hard to show no emotion whatsoever. Something flashed through his eyes, admiration.
No that can't be right.
We stood like this for I don't know how long. Foreheads resting on each other, his rich brown eyes staring into my hazel ones. His arms still loosely slung around my waist, my hands still resting softly on his shoulders. Neither of us willing to break eye contact, or to speak.
I finally blinked, and looked away slightly removing my hands. He let go of my waist and cleared his throat, running his right hand through his hair, only making it more disheveled.
Damn he is hot, how have I never noticed before.
Probably because you were too busy strongly disliking him.
Shut up!
"W-what time should I pick you up?"
Aw, he's nervous.
"Well, the dance starts at 9, so 7:00 then we can catch dinner first."
"Sounds good." He grinned, and turned to walk away before turning back around.
"What color is your dress?" I smiled at his question.
"Light purple."
"Like the sign?" He questioned.
I nodded, "Like the sign." He smiled at me, winking before heading off.
"See you later!"
"See you." I watched his muscular figure slowly get smaller until it retreated into the school building. Leaving me alone, and frankly shocked at what had just happened, in the middle of the football field.
