After the nuclear devastation of Earth all species were forced to adapt and evolve to survive the centuries of chaos that would follow. Komodo Dragons evolved into a reptile known as the Wyvicore because it was a cross between the Norse Wyvern and the Greek Manticore's evolution was to be very important indeed.
Wyvicores were almighty beings, superior to the humans they treated as equals but they didn't get the same respect back, so they brought into action the Spirit Link; a powerful bond between Wyvicore and man that could not be chosen by humans or broken by any being.
The Wyvicore were to choose the human but with no suitable candidates that had a potential and a mind strong enough for the link, the Wyvicores decided to wait for the right one to finally emerge.
The Wyvicores fought in a rebellion against man that all boiled down to one final battle; an unnamed Echo Wyvicore challenged any human to one-on-one combat. For years no humans would volunteer. Finally, after decades a boy named Bo Treaty volunteered, no-one thought he would survive.
But he wasn't there as a soldier, he was there as a representative of mankind. Bo made a treaty with the Wyvicores - even though some stayed out of the treaty and went rogue along with many humans - and became the first Spirit Link. A whole generation of Spirit Links were bound.
They didn't stick around for long though. Many of the true Spirit Links were overcome with power and killed their Wyvicores in order to gain more power which only resulted in killing both. The true Spirit Links numbers were greatly reduced, some of the survivors started going rouge. The remaining true spirit Links were forced to retreat into the shadows . . . New Spirit Links were born all the time, but more and more of them became arrogant and considered themselves more important than the people around them. True Spirit Links became the stuff of myth and legend. Over the next few centuries no one heard anything about true Spirit Links ... Until now ...
