Camila grumbled to herself in thought as she lifted her left hand to her forehead so that she could rub it soothingly. A minor headache had settled as soon as she had stepped foot in the walkways of her school. Education wasn't exactly the most thrilling concept, but Camila knew by now the beginnings of the headache were caused from her lack of sleep. She just hoped that it wouldn't develop into one as bad as the headaches she usually gets. It wouldn't matter if it did though; this was nothing new to her. She was used to it.

The small girl trudged unenthusiastically in the direction of her locker, actively avoiding eye contact with anybody and everybody on the way. A small pile of books were clutched in her right hand while she used her left to rub at her head some more.

Mondays suck.

Camila thought to herself before she stopped and looked back, suddenly realizing she had already passed her locker. Furrowing her eyebrows down in annoyance, she turned abruptly on her heels to walk back and in front of her locker. Opening it slowly, brown eyes darted from her hands, to locker, to books, and back to her locker again. Camila tried focusing on one task as she began wondering what classes she had today, but her mind ended up drifting lazily to different thoughts again. She was abruptly yanked from these thoughts a few moments later when a pair of hands landed roughly on her unsuspecting shoulders.

"Boo!" Despite the rough tone to the voice, Camila already knew who it belonged to. She whipped around, now face to face with her friend, Ally.

"Jesus Christ..." She exclaimed, stiffening at the sudden scare and already feeling light tingles in her legs.

"Nope... No it was just me." Ally replied with a playful smirk on her face, obviously trying to be funny. Camila sighed heavily, trying to calm her heart, which was now thumping almost painfully against her ribcage.

"You really scared me Ally... C'mon, give me a break..." Camila mumbled weakly, almost dismissively. The hands on her shoulders almost instantly became reassuring and gentle after the words left her mouth. Ally's eyes darted up to the other girl's face, staring worriedly into chocolate brown. There didn't need to be an exchange in words for her to know what the problem was.

'You didn't get any sleep last night, did you?' She asked carefully, cocking her head to one side knowingly. Her voice was considerably more gently this time.

'What's new?' Camila wanted to lash out angrily, the exhaustion overwhelming in her head. But she knew better than to be annoyed or angry with her friend; none of this was Ally's fault. She settled for shaking her head gently in response to the question instead. In return to the gesture, Ally lifted one of her hands from her shoulder to rest gently on her face and rub her cheek soothingly. She noticed Camila's usually lively brown eyes were a little less so than when they last saw each other, the black underneath her eyes more evident today. Ally's heart twisted slightly in her chest at the sight of how exhausted her friend was.

"Mila... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you... I was just trying to play around." Ally apologized honestly, her tone soft. "You really look like shit you know." She added jokingly in an attempt to lift the spirits. Camila let her lips curve up as she raised an eyebrow, the remark earning Ally a small, but cheeky smile.

"Wow, thanks." She giggled, but immediately lifted her left hand up to the side of her head as a sharp pain shot through. Ally noticed this and lowered her voice, not wanting to make anything worse.

"Headache, huh?" Camila settled for nodding in place of a verbal response again. Ally knew that whenever Camila hadn't slept for a while, she was more prone to headaches and usually became extremely irritable. When it was really bad, Camila sometimes resorted to not talking at all.
