I woke up and changed into a comfy outfit.
Buzz buzz.
I checked my phone to see millions of texts from my group chat with my besties. They were all trying to tell me to go to the park. "Ok, see you soon!" I replied. I raced downstairs and into the kitchen, grabbing a croissant as I ran towards the door.
"Mari!" My mom called and I stopped in my tracks. I turned around and gave her a 'what?' look. "Where you going? We need to start loading the car." My mom asked. I felt tears spring up in my eyes as I remembered that I'm leaving all of my friends today. I'm leaving my whole life behind today.
"Today is my last day here, and I'm spending every last second with my friends" I said before rushing out the door, not even giving her a chance to respond. I ran to the park and sat at the bench that we always meet at where all my friends were at. They all immediately pulled me into a hug.
"Hey Mari! We wanted to say goodbye before you leave!" Shawni said as she wiped a few tears from my face.
"Guys, I don't want to leave! But I can't do anything about it!" I said. Tears continued to stream down my face. They all pulled me into a hug again.
"Everything will be ok, I promise! And you can call us anytime you need us!" One of my friends, Christian, said.
"Thanks Chris!" I replied.
"So, how did the dance with Nick go yesterday?" He asked.
I frowned as I answered "He didn't show up."
"Where does he live, I'll beat him up for you!" Nick said. I laughed.
Buzz buzz.
I checked my phone to see a text from my parents. "Guys, my mom wants me to head home, we're leaving soon" I said. I was pulled into yet another hug as I felt tears fall down my face for the millionth time today. "I'm gonna miss you so much!" I cried.
"We'll miss you too Mari!" My other friend, Meadow, said.
"Promise me your new friends won't be better than us!" Christian begged.
"Of course they won't!" I said. "I love you guys!" I continued as I pulled away and started to walk away from my friends. I walked away from my old friends and old life. I left them all behind. When I got home, I helped my parents pack the boxes into the car. My parents were already in the car as I walked into the house to get the last box labeled memories. I opened the box to see millions of pictures and papers scattered around, every little paper that meant something to me, all given to me by my friends.
I picked up a note that read "Hey new girl, hope we can become friends! Also, I made you this bracelet - Shawni".
That was the note Shawni gave me in 3rd grade when we met. I looked to my wrist where the red bracelet with little beads she gave me along with the note sat. It was my lucky charm.I dug through the box some more until I noticed something new in the box. I picked up the note that had a piece of string wrapped to it. "Hey new girl, thank you for being there for me for everything! I'm gonna miss you so much, and I hope to see you again soon! Enjoy Paris! Also, I made you this bracelet - Shawni" the note read. I tied the string around my wrist right next to the old one. I closed the box and walked outside. I put the box in the trunk and got into the car. As the car drove off, I looked behind me. At my old house, my old life.
And off to Paris we go.
