Hello, everyone! I'm gonna keep this real short and sweet, so you all can get on to the chapter! I'd just like to confirm that I do not own Fairy  Tail or any characters involved with Fairy Tail - they all rightfully belong to Hiro Mashima. The only thing I own here, is my plot, and my OC's, which both come from my imagination. If you have any questions about this work, feel free to drop a comment below, or message me personally - and please, please, do not steal my work, as I have worked very hard on it. If you are interested in possibly translating my work, contact me. Furthermore, I hope that you all enjoy! Special thanks to those who read, vote, and comment!

Also- I'd just like to clear it up here - this fic will be written in third person that centralizes on Lucy, and will be part of a potentially four part series. As this is just the prologue, I must note that this chapter will be significantly shorter than the chapters to come in the future.

XOXOXO

"It is said that those who practice celestial magic, whether that magic be holder or internalized, have the strongest spirit of all the land." Layla smiled, shutting the book that she had been reading, placing it gently onto the end-table beside her. At her feet, her daughter, Lucy, lay asleep on her stomach, her friend's daughter, Elara, cuddled up next to her.

Her heart was warm with happiness at the two's enthusiasm to learn her magic. As they always did whenever Elara would visit, they would beg her to read her books to them, always insistent that someday, they would become celestial mages, themselves.

Layla wholeheartedly believed in the both of them.

"Mama," Lucy groaned, rolling over away from the heat of her friend's body, "Mama why'd you stop reading?"

Layla chuckled, "You fell asleep, silly."

"I was still listening," The nine year old huffed at her mother, pouting up at the ceiling, "I like your stories."

"I do, too." A small voice piped in.

Elara brought herself to sit up, stretching her arms above her head, "Someday, my spirit is gonna shine brighter than anyone else's!"

"Not if mine shines brighter!" Lucy challenged, "My celestial spirits are gonna love me, aren't they, mama?"

Layla's eyes shone with adoration, "If you treat them well."

Layla could see Lucy's eyes twinkle, and a small blush spread across her daughter's cheeks, "They'll be my friends!"

"I thought I was your friend!" Elara nudged her, pouting in false anger.

"You are!" Lucy giggled, "They'll just be special!"

Layla sighed contentedly, amused by the two of them, who were now rolling around together on the floor, playfully wrestling with one another.

"Would you girls like me to finish?" She cleared her throat, "I didn't get to the end of the story."

Though Layla knew that it wasn't just a story. It was a book based off of real - life magic. One that her own mother had read to her , the same one that had made her decide to become a celestial spirit wizard.

The girls stopped immediately, snapping to Layla's attention, strikingly like dogs.

Layla let out a small laugh, "Alright, let's see - where were we?"

"We were talking about spirit!" Elara chimed out.

Layla nodded, "Yes, it is said that those who practice celestial magic, whether that magic be holder or internalized, have the strongest spirit of all the land." She started.
