Chapter Fourteen: Get Out Alive

Alright guys, I'm gonna give you a little warning - We're down to the second to last chapter, here. Chapter fifteen will be the last official part to this book!

After that, I'll be moving onto book 1.5, which *spoiler alert* I have entitled Come Find Me.  

Woah..Okay, so the GaLe in this chapter is a bit heavy. My main focus is still NaLu, of course - trust me, there'll be a lot more of that in the second book ;)

"Hey Lucy?" Happy called out, flying up from behind her to match her pace, "Are you sure we're going the right direction?"

The blonde gritted her teeth, her head feeling like it was going to implode.

She was sure she had heard that exact same question from him a million times in the last hour alone and she knew he was only asking now to drive her annoyance in further - the once smooth map in her hands now crinkled beyond repair in her fist.

"I'm sure." She gritted out, "Now quit asking me!"

"I donno, Lucy," Natsu crept up from behind her, teasing her with a warm hand on her shoulder, "What if we get lost?"

She jumped, an embarrassed yelp escaping her mouth as she spun around, body leaned forward as she scolded her now-laughing dragon slaying companion, "Don't scare me like that!"

She huffed, "Besides. I know where we're going. I ran away from home, remember?"

"What does that have to do with anything?" Natsu looked at her dumbly, cheeks flushed pink as he came down off of his amused high.

She rolled her eyes, "I had to lay low for a while. My dad sent people out after me."

"You.." Happy started, his jaw automatically shutting with a click as the blonde watched as his body began to shake, his lips clamped down hard on one another.

"Happy..?" She asked hesitantly, raising a single eyebrow at the exceed before her.

"You lived in the woods!" The exclamation cracked out of his mouth like a whip, hitting the air around them loudly.

She stared at him, incredulous as he laughed at her. 

"Shut up you damn cat!" Words catapulted from her own mouth, "It was only for a few days!"

Her yes quickly side-glanced to catch Natsu's, only to find the pink-haired mage in a similar state, his body trembling soundlessly as he bit his lip.

She threw her head back in embarrassment, "You guys suck!"

 Natsu's arm suddenly snaked itself around her shoulder, hooking around her to pull her body flush against the side of his.

"C'Mon, you know we're just joking with you, Luce!" She glanced up through the curtain of her hair, a surprised blush dusting her face.

"Yeah, c'mon Lucy!" Happy repeated the dragon slayer, "We're just glad you're feeling better!"

She smiled, face pressed into the crook of Natsu's neck ever still, the warmth he was providing her more than comfortable.

It felt nice having her body back to normal - given the slight pain that still shook her shoulder occasionally. 

And it definitely felt nice having her team back together. 

"Hey Lucy?" Happy's voice cut into her thoughts.

"Hm?" She mumbled out, eyes closed.

"Are you a vampire?" His next question confused her, as was evident as her eyebrows wrinkled together.
